Oh god that is annoying. Well there seems to be no shortage of used Thule strollers on marketplace so at least I can get one of those second hand. I guess I’ll just have to cough up the $500 for a bassinet! Although even saying those words give me the heebeejeebies.

we just booked flights home to the Uk for next September so I know I’ll have to get a lighter weight smaller stroller for that trip, but I’m hoping just a really cheap one. I do not have the space at my place for more than one stroller as it is 🙈!

Thanks for letting me know ☺️

Welcome @Lillybobs86

@Spareincoming Yes, I’m a bit worried about jealousy from my youngest too, but hopefully it’ll be ok. Hope your appt is helpful today.

@Travellingislife Yes, it’s annoying because it’s been mostly finished for a while, so it’s just the last bit that has dragged on and on. Hopefully we both get some progress before babies arrive!

@WriMum22 it does make sense. The waiting is hard and loss of normal identities/abilities. SPD is keeping me mostly stuck in the house and I hate that, get really fed up. Hoping the winter isn’t too harsh so I can get out walking with baby, makes such a difference to mood.

reememberly · 10/10/2023 17:01

@Psqueak87 worth checking prime day deals for your bassinet? Or a lot of online pram shops based here have offers on your first order, so can usually save something just by ordering from somewhere new to you. Not sure if similar where you are, but worth a look maybe? I got 10% off pram bundle compared to buying it direct. Hadn’t used that site before but checked reviews and I’ve paid by credit card for more protection in case of any problems, but I’m not anticipating any.

Psqueak87 · 10/10/2023 17:07

@reememberly thank you, will try that! Might even wait till Black Friday and just go bassinet-less till then. I can clip my car seat in!

Spareincoming · 10/10/2023 17:19

@Psqueak87 do you need the bassinet? Can the buggy seat do lie flat and you could use something like a Phil and teds cocoon instead of the rigid bassinet? Just as warm and easier to move baby about in?

Crazybrowncow · 10/10/2023 18:28

I have a date! Booked for my section on 7th Nov! Fingers crossed I can hold on until then! The GD consultant called and said because I have started insulin they want to bring it forward - by a day! Hope everyone is getting on ok.

Psqueak87 · 10/10/2023 20:06

@Spareincoming unfortunately the Thule urban glide seat doesn’t lie flat. I could just use it with a car seat until the baby can sit up though probably…I wasn’t even going to get a stroller until spring, but MIL really wants to buy one, and I guess it would be nice for some mall walking when it’s really cold this winter.

@Crazybrowncow congrats on the date!

just had dr apt! First time I haven’t put weight on, hallelujah, hopefully it’s slowing down now. Body must be getting used to the fact I’ve doubled my usual calorie intake 😜weekly dr apt’s from now until due date. 36+3, bump is measuring 35 weeks and my BP is still low. I forgot to mention it to him but has anyone else had a sudden light headed / hot feeling?

I was 10 minutes into my drive to work this week and felt so close to fainting that I had to pull over. My heart was racing really quick, felt very light headed and very hot. I gave myself 10 mins to calm and went on my way. But I’ve had the same feeling once since. It’s not when I’m doing anything taxing either. I’m walking the dogs and gardening every day, it always seems to be when I’m driving.

Alloveragain3 · 10/10/2023 20:21

@Psqueak87 I had this a few times around 25 weeks when I was chopping vegetables (not very taxing!) and another time when baking.

My BP was low then so I presume that was the issue. I just had an easy / feet up few hours after both events.

BP now normal and hasn't happened since.

Spareincoming · 10/10/2023 20:36

@Psqueak87 how annoying! What’s the Canadian recommendation for length of time in a car seat? I’ve purposely bought a new one that lies almost flat as I’ve got school runs, shopping etc journeys that take ages because we’re rural! Even the hospital you get sent to if baby has issues - suspected jaundice has been a one for us - is 40 minutes on a good day!

@Crazybrowncow does it feel reassuring to have a date?

Thanks to all who were asking after me today; the multi-panel are meeting on Friday morning and I’m on their discussion list, they’ve said someone will ring with the date that afternoon; the sooner the better!

I had my obs done as usual today, but by a midwife who kept asking if I’d noticed “changes in my bowels” and kept asking but phrasing it different ways; the other lady in the waiting room mentioned the same to her partner- I’ve never had one so enthusiastic about bowel talk!

Psqueak87 · 10/10/2023 20:46

@Spareincoming I can’t find any specific guidelines regarding the amount of time they can be in them. But I’ve found lots saying they shouldn’t be in them for a “long” time.
I also live pretty rurally, 30-40 mins to the hospital. I was always planning on baby wearing for shopping and stuff but have been debating that decision as lots of other people at work who’ve already had kids said “that won’t last long” and that I’ll get sick of carrying the baby after a couple of weeks. Maybe I’ll just see how it goes!

Spareincoming · 10/10/2023 20:51

@Psqueak87 Ooo no don’t let them put you off! Baby wearing is the best! I prefer a soft carrier with a sewn structure over a wrap one but have always loved having them
snuggled up close! Once they get too heavy on the front, just swap them to the back!

Aw exciting!

BabyBabyBaby123 · 10/10/2023 21:36

@Psqueak87 I fully agree with @Spareincoming I loved baby wearing and only stopped it with my youngest because I had some spotting in early pregnancy and it worried me that I had one occasion after using the carrier, so I was still carrying her when she was about 16 months old.

I have a stretchy wrap for the newborn days and then I’ll swap to my Mamaruga Zensling, which I love! My husband has even said he can’t wait to get his carrier back out with the baby, he uses the Ergobaby Omni360, which I didn’t get along with as I have a short torso (and short everything really…) so it sat too close to my face to feel comfortable.
I really recommend a sling library if they have one local to you, where you can try and hire to check you like the carrier before you buy, because they can be pricey.

Thack · 11/10/2023 01:15

Baby wearing is awesome! I need to wash my stretchy wrap and remember how to use it!
Recommend YouTube videos and trying it with a doll/teddy for practice. There are some Facebook groups about it too, they'll help with fit and position if you post a photo.

I've now got an induction booked next week. There's a risk of needing a section but hopefully baby will cope ok with vaginal birth. Scary close! Finishing work this week which I can't wait for.

Travellingislife · 11/10/2023 05:06

Both me and my DS loved baby wearing, it was always the choice, I went from using a wrap to the Ergobaby to using a backpack, I used the backpack as late as this summer when we were hiking and he was almost 3!

Has anyone started having mild cramping? I’m just over 36 weeks and I’ve had mild period cramps all night. Is this normal?? I hope Labour isn’t approaching soon! I want the baby to cook for much longer.
With my DS I didn’t notice anything, no cramps or anything etc until my water broke at 42 weeks and it went from 0-100 in an hour.

Psqueak87 · 11/10/2023 05:35

Thanks all! I actually bought the ergobaby breeze when it went on sale a few months ago. Although might also buy a wrap style one if I need it! And thanks for confirming that baby wearing might well be for me! It’s going to be so snowy here soon which is why I thought it would work better than a pram!

@Travellingislife yes woke up this morning with menstrual style cramps for the first hour or so. I’m 36+3 at the moment. I had it one other day this week too; but no other signs that labour is near.

WriMum22 · 11/10/2023 08:11

I’ve been having period style cramps for about a week or so now, I’m 34 weeks. I tell the Midwife everyday I’m in for monitoring (as they ask about pain) and they never seem concerned so think it’s just normal towards the end. I did read it can be a type of Braxton Hicks.

I am in for a growth scan this morning and consultant, I’m definitely expecting little lady to have grown and even potentially be above 10th centile this time, I just feel like she’s bigger, which will be good. Also hoping the consultant can put a better plan in plan in regards to the reduced movements and potentially give me a date for section, but deep down I know I’m probably going to be leaving no further forward, so need to prepare myself for that disappointment! My consultant isn't the most forthcoming.

Hope everyone has a good day.

WriMum22 · 11/10/2023 14:04

Well back from consultant and as expected would have probably got more out of a brick wall! Baby is still on 10th centile but she’s growing along that line so that’s great. Asked what plan was in regard to the reduced movements and he’s basically said continue with daily monitoring until she’s here, I said so what’s plan then with the section and he’s basically still adamant c-section will be 39 weeks, so I’ve got 5 more weeks of daily monitoring, going back and forth to hospital every day, including weekends, I could honestly cry (but of course I’m grateful for the time she gets to cook). The actual reason I’m venting though is because I’ve come home and checked my electronic notes and he’s put that I’ve got ‘mild poly hydraminos’ and it needs to be checked at next scan. He never said a word about it to me, he told me absolutely nothing and I just feel like I had a right to be told that something had been found! I’ve googled and it’s apparently too much amniotic fluid, but other than that, I know nothing! I’m feeling so disappointed in my consultant, I don’t know if I’m valid in my anger that he didn’t tell me, or if I’m just overreacting due to hormones.

BabyBabyBaby123 · 11/10/2023 15:05

@WriMum22 if you’re unhappy with your care drop an email to PALS, they might just even get your notes read over by another consultant or get your consultant to explain exactly what is in your notes.

Thack · 11/10/2023 15:13

@WriMum22 that's poor that they aren't explaining.

Do you feel like the daily monitoring is too much? Take a day off if you feel you should (and the risk isn't too high). Rest is important for you both too.

WriMum22 · 11/10/2023 15:35

@BabyBabyBaby123 my husband wants to complain. The consultant knows my mental health history too, namely my anxiety during pregnancy due to previous loss and it’s known I’m currently under the perinatal mental health team, so to leave something like this for me to read on my
notes without even telling me, my husband is furious.

@Thack the monitoring is definitely helping my anxiety, but I just feel like they are expecting too much of me if that makes sense. The consultant doesn’t seem to care about the stress the repeated reduced movements are having on me and how another five weeks of this is going to cause me a lot of distress, especially when I find things on my notes that he’s not explaining to me. All the midwife’s on triage have said for repeated reduced movements ladies are brought in at 38 weeks, but for some reason my consultant is refusing to even consider this for me. It feels cruel, like I’m being left. I’m also on two weekly blood tests for having antibodies in my blood (I’m rhesus negative and baby is positive), I’ve read rhesus disease can cause poly hydraminos, but once again, Consultant hasn’t discussed anything at all with me about the antibodies.

LilmissCa · 11/10/2023 16:04

@WriMum22 wow you have every right to be very annoyed & complain. I know here in Northern Ireland we have a better births midwive available at our antenatal clinic for support with the consultants & running over information again. It's not readily known about, I found out about it at my hypnobirthing class. Might be worth asking if you have only & if you can talk to them, or another midwife at the clinic before your next appt for support.

WriMum22 · 11/10/2023 16:29

@LilmissCa Im under the antenatal assessment unit for my weekly CTG’s and Dopplers and that’s ran by midwives. They are so lovely and it feels like they are fully invested in my care each and every time I see them. Luckily I’m in tomorrow morning for a CTG so I’m going to ask them about it and see if they can explain more and hopefully put my mind at rest, I spoke to triage earlier for more info and the midwife there said the Dr should have definitely told me about it and explained what it was, but she did say don’t worry. My Doppler scan two days ago showed a fluid level of 6.2cm which is normal but today it’s showing 8.9cm, with the threshold being 8cm, so I’m only just over at this point (found all of this out from asking other people and online, nothing from my actual consultant). Someone in another pregnancy group I’m in said she had 8.5cm at her scan and next scan it had dropped and the midwife said if baby urinates at point of scan, that can increase the reading. Hoping that’s been the same for me, but will find out Friday afternoon at my next Doppler.

GreenAventurine · 11/10/2023 17:03

@WriMum22 im with you on the anxiety thing. just wish they would give me a date or explain more.
I can’t fault my care - I’m well, baby girl is well. But I do feel as thought I’ve been flung from piller to post and one consultant doesn’t seem to take that into consideration. Another consultant is really up on it though, but I think the first one has the most say.

Anyone else just not sleeping? I’m sleepy and hungry constantly.

Lillybobs86 · 11/10/2023 17:25

Thank you @JD90 and @reememberly :))

Has anyone has the carpel tunnel ?!
It started for me last week weakness in hands and wrist and pins and needles 🤦🏽‍♀️

Had my last day at work today - Maternity leave has official started 🎉
So glad to be finished early as getting so tired 😴
