Double buggy recommendations

Looking for double buggy recommendations, a few friends have recommended the out & about, have looked at the v4 and the new v5. Undecided if buying new or 2nd hand (don't see many 2nd hand about).
Any other brands??
Pros / cons on side by side or on top?

I got a Phil and Ted double buggy for my twins

Have heard really good things about the Out N About double buggies. Good quality, easy to manoeuvre, easy to push on different circumstances...

We got a Donkey Bugaboo second hand from friends of friends for £200 - would never have bought it new as they're so pricey. The friends of friends concede it's a bit bulky but have said they've been really happy with it otherwise.

Our friends who have twins recommended side-by-side over tandem. They said sometimes doorways can be a problem, but the longer ones can be really tricky to manoeuvre e.g. around the end of supermarket aisles. Also, one poor baby has to go on the bottom! With side-by-side, the babies can interact with each other once they're a bit older.

We have an Out n About single and it's brilliant. A friend has the double version and loves it. Great prams, handle all kinds of terrain easily. I really notice it when I use our cheap travel buggy v the Nipper, night and day!

We have single and double city mini gt. Side by side, one hand fold, easy to push. The standard double citimini fits easily in a normal sized door. The gt has a slightly wider seat etc and off road type tyres and we do a lot if off road walking. We love them. Both second hand to us and both wearing well despite being 4+ years old now.

The double is still quite large folded though. We looked at out and abouts but the seats were noticeably smaller than citimini and we have a 1.5 age gap so wanted something we were sure would fit the older child for long enough. Maybe not such an issue with twins.

I have the baby jogger city tour 2 double. I think it's great. I have a 20month old and a 2month old.

Fits through standards doors nice and easy, and fairly small for a double buggy gets in my boot fine. Folds down and up with ease and lightweight.

I have a Phil and Ted's dot which I really love. So easy to push and very compact. It's perfect for my needs, my three year old pops in and out of the back seat as required while my 1 year old is in the front

My sister has mountain buggy duet which she loves. It is a lovely compact side by side and so easy to stear. Both my nephews (3 and 2 years) seam very comfortable in it.

My friend has an out and about nipper for her 1 year old twins and can't fault it.

We had a Phil and Ted and liked its versatility as when eldest was older we could take off second seat and use a buggy board and it was a single buggy. Whatever you do get would definitely recommend second hand- most double buggies gave good resale potential too.

Bugaboo donkey. There's a great market second hand

Thanks everyone
Some great points , I'll have an age gap.. 1.5yr so good to think of the size of the seats. And the Phil & ted versatility is fab, didn't realise that !!

I used my out n about for two sets of 2 under 2 and absolutely adored it. I even used it as a running buggy after I had my 3rd!

I do agree the seats are a bit narrow if you have chunky / tall toddlers but I still managed to keep my 90th centile baby in it until he was 3!

The out n about looks amazing and I couldn’t believe how light and compact it was in person when I’d only seen it in pictures.

The baby jogger gt2 double is lovely looking but I needed something for dog walks so it wasn’t overly practical.

I think it’s personal preference over side by side or above and below but to me I felt with two kids of different ages I wanted them side by side as with the above and below style it would probably always be the older child getting the worse deal seat-wise. It’s also a bit more unstable feeling getting on an off kerbs with an above and below style but obviously you do save on width for fitting through doors etc
