Did you have an AROM induction??

Did you have an AROM INDUCTION?

Can I please hear some experiences from mothers who were induced by breaking waters alone? Did you need to be put on the pitocin drip after?

How was it? How long from when they broke your waters was baby born? How many weeks were you?

I have my induction scheduled for Wednesday morning and I'm so scared. This is my second baby and first was an induction of labour but with pessery and then arom, and then drip. I was naive and agreed to everything doctors suggested. It ended in a vacuum delivery with episiotomy where I was cut in my senses with no pain relief , it was traumatic to say the least.

I'm now booked for induction on Wednesday due to very high fluid levels and severe polyhydramnios. I'll be 39 weeks and one day. Doc checked me last week and I was favourable at 2cm and soft cervix.

Should I expect the same from this induction, it sounds not as scary as the first time but when I think of induction alarm bells start ringing.

Can anyone offer guidance ?

Not sure if it’s relevant but I was induced at 37+6 with my first.Pessary first in the eve 8:30pm but it was then removed in the morning.Waters were broke shortly after that by doc & labour & delivery was done without any further medical intervention.Gas & air was used and loved my birth experiance.Used birthing ball and whatever else I wanted to do to help delivery. Good luck OP it is normal to feel anxious especially when first birth experience wasn’t positive.Always said i wouldn’t get pregnant again if my first birth hadn’t gone well. Just praying this one does if pregnancy gets that far.

It's fairly likely that ARM alone will put you into labour, given that you'll be 39 weeks and you've had a baby before. Breast/nipple stimulation once your waters have been broken can also help, if you don't start having contractions within a reasonable timeframe. Good luck!

I had pessary induction with my first, tricky birth similar to yours. My second, I had AROM and had a favourable cervix. Labour started within 30 minutes, no more intervention needed, and I had a straight forward birth. Good luck OP

I have. my 2nd baby just broke the waters and about 45mins later I was getting contractions. All went well no other Interventions. My 4th they tried to break my waters but then nothing happened but he was back to back and not putting pressure on my cervix so needed the drip but all went well that time too.

I had 3 sweeps at 39 weeks (first baby) due to expected large baby (he wasn’t as big as expected but that’s another point). 3 sweeps dilated me to 2cm so went straight To ARM rather than pessary/ rods or balloon.

Waters were broken on 40+1 at 11.25pm and baby arrived with no further intervention at 7.25am the next morning. I got to 4cm by 3.30am but they let my body do the rest rather than forcing with the drip, and was 10cm by 6.30am.

So it definitely can happen without further intervention.

Best of luck to you!

Agree antenatal expressing could really help reduce your need for the drip, I would start that tonight or tomorrow if you haven't already. There's some good videos on YouTube.

I was scheduled for a balloon induction on due date for gestational diabetes but went into labour naturally the night before.
