Babyzen YOYO2 for everyday use?

Will this (with the bassinet for the first 6 months) be a good option to use as the only/main pram for our baby? Or do people only use it for travel?

A little bit of background:

First time parents here with baby due in December. We live in (suburban) London, ground floor flat so luckily no stairs, currently don't have a car but might get one before/once the DD is here. Looking for an option which is easy to carry around the city on tube and buses but also sturdy enough for occasional walks in woods. I consider myself petite so weight and easy fold are important.

We used ours as the main pram for our first from 5 months old and it was fab. We’re now due our second and have bought a bassinet so we can use the yo-yo exclusively this time around. Especially for London I think it would be amazing, but even with a car it’s so convenient and packs up so small that I recommend it to everyone.

Yeah it will be perfect

We used ours as the main pram from birth, and still use it as main buggy now (18 months later). We were in London also, and liked that it was only 6kg, so was very light to carry up and down tube steps etc. Easy to collapse and wear over one shoulder like a bag also. Also found it very easy for restaurants and coffee shops as it can fit in tiny spaces near the table, and wheeled easily between tables.

Another plus is we travel a lot and it's one of the few buggies that can go in the cabin on flights and can fit under the seat in front of you.

Oh we do frequent dog walks around parks, fields etc and while it's coped the huge buggies look a lot easier. However we've always found the sling easier for any properly tricky walks or hiking, so mainly use that for any walks in woods etc

Oh yes, absolutely. I used the yoyo for the first child when we lived in cities and it was just perfect. I used to take it on the tube. The only slightly annoying thing is that DS1 was quite long and grew out of the newborn bit before he was quite ready for the buggy bit, but it was only two weeks of nothing being quite right. If you're happy with a sling you can cope (or have a normal-sized baby!).

I'm in London too. We debated between bugaboo bee and the toto (have stairs to go up too). Chose the bugaboo for a few reasons, the bassinet detaches so could carry sleeping baby up and leave frame downstairs in hallway. It also has front facing pram for when they come out of the bassinet. We also live near woods and I thought the yoyo would get destroyed the wheels are super tiny.

Toto = Yoyo **

Yes it’s our only pram, had it for years. I rate the newborn pack over the bassinet though as you can still fold it up small and baby is securely strapped in so ideal for bumping on/off public transport. Since it’s not suitable for overnight sleep I don’t get what the point of the bassinet is actually, maybe a marketing money making thing?! You can’t take it for a walk in the woods though, it’s designed for pavements and even uncut grass is a struggle so if that’s something you want to do then maybe get a sling as well.

Ahh this makes sense! I just carry the whole thing. The frame weighs nothing so I can get it up/down stairs myself with baby strapped in no problem. We used to have a raised ground floor entrance and I only started to find it hard when DD was a toddler so really heavy and I was pregnant with DS so really really felt the struggle. Sometimes I used to wait out her naps in the local diner 🤣 But other than that it’s easy and another reason why I love the YoYo. There’s no panic if you get off the tube to find steps but you’re on your own and there’s no kind stranger about to help!

bryceQ · 12/08/2023 16:41

I could do the stairs but it's 32 stairs and I had a c section and the joslting used to wake him whereas lifting the bassinet resulted in him staying asleep!

I had a yo-yo from birth from my first, but for my second we're thinking we might go for a Joolz Aer Plus instead. The yo-yo is knackered after almost four years of constant use, so we need to buy something new anyway. The Joolz is actually lighter than the yo-yo, but the bassinet seems more robust than the yo-yo newborn pack and it folds down. The wheels seem a bit more robust as well, and in pushchair mode it lies flat. According to our local shop the Joolz is now outselling the yo-yo.
