Interview when pregnant?

Anyone been through this before?

I applied for a job a while ago. I'm now 16 weeks pregnant and I've been invited to an interview next week. I'm not sure what to do.

I really want the job but I'm not sure if I should mention I'm pregnant or just not say anything about it. I don't want to hide my pregnancy but also don't want them to reject me based on that (I know they're not supposed to but I imagine from an employer point of view hiring someone who is pregnant and who will eventually need time off for maternity might not be ideal)

Thoughts?

Go for it OP. Best of luck, tell them youre pregnant when you have to.

Don’t say anything

A bad employer would use it against you and a good employer wouldn’t want to know

@FoodFann @ShirleyPhallus thanks for your responses. It looks like the interview will only be 15mins judging by the time slots so hopefully with some layers they won't notice my tummy!

Do it and say nothing as yet - are you currently employed?
I take it you know that changing job at this stage would discount you from getting SMP and you would get MA instead?

@lexilulu yeah I'm currently employed and I'm aware it would mess up my maternity entitlement but I would say the job is worth it

Honestly won't be popular but I wouldn't. Realistically at 18 weeks, it could be another four weeks before they are even at offer stage assuming they'll be a couple of rounds. At that stage you'd need to work out your existing notice so you could be nearly 30 weeks by the time you start. I just feel that it would be such a sour note to start with an employer on especially if they are looking for someone urgently. You would still need to come back and pass probation etc. you'd have no goodwill built up on your return and would have to learn a brand new role as well as juggle the mom stuff.
It just wouldn't be worth the hassle in my opinion.
If it was me I'd say put and take my mat pay from my existing employer.

@Crazycrazylady thanks for replying. It is good to hear both sides. I get where you're coming from
