A bit of protein in urine

I've tested my urine and there is a trace amount of protein. I've not been drinking a lot of water/vomited again yesterday.

Anyone know if this is a concern?

I have trouble with my GP or midwife team taking ownership. I've called my GP and it's a routine appointment in three weeks.

Community midwife said to see GP first.

I'm 23 weeks and next appointment is with midwife in 2 weeks.

A little bit of protein is fine, especially if you've not been drinking as muchm
. Try and drink as much as you can and retest tomorrow. Watch out for any other signs of pre eclampsia but i would say you'll be OK xx

When did you last have your blood pressure checked, out of interest, OP? (You can get it done at pharmacies these days if you don't have your own Omron or similar BP gadget.)

(I had pre-eclampsia x2 times so kind of know the pack drill for this - which includes not worrying too much about the protein-in-urine tests unnecessarily as a lot are false alarms really, set off by tiny traces of household toiletries and chemicals.)

Wishing you well Flowers

This is me too! Also 23 weeks. Waiting on my results to come back

If it is a small trace amount it could be a slight contamination.

Every midwife appointment I would get trace protein so they would send it off to the lab and would be fine

Midwife said it can happen if a bit of discharge gets mixed in with the sample - so try for a mid-stream wee if possible

Should I buy a machine?

Should I buy a machine?

I mean it was a long time ago for me, but I got one in the end from Boots because I couldn't keep taking time off work to go to get my BP checked because of the disruption it was causing to colleagues and my own job.

I think you can get an Omron now for around £30 in places like Argos. Otherwise the pharmacist will usually do it these days for free.

But like pp ^^ have said, it's very often contamination that makes it seem like you've got protein when actually you haven't! I think that's why the midwives and GPs are fairly relaxed about it tbh.

If your BP is stable, all good.

Yes, protein in urine is not good, thankfully its a small amount at the minute
As mentioned before that could be a sign of preeclampsia. I too have a bp monitor at home and they can be obtained pretty inexpensively from Amazon.
Make sure you hydrate as that will help your blood flow. I know its tough as sometimes that's the last thing you want but its important.
Good luck OP
