Is it normal to feel like this before TTC?

Me and my partner have been together for 8 years, brought a house together that has recently been renovated. We are both 26 years old and in stable jobs.

I’ve always known I would want to have children but the more we talk about it the more scarier it seems? Is it true there is never a right time? We have good savings and family support but I can’t help feeling more nervous than excited? Is this normal?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank You

Yes, I think that's normal!

Thank you, I think I am getting myself worked up and it hasn’t even happened yet. I overthink a lot and I remember having a conversation with a work colleague a few months back who made a flippant comment about how having a baby in your 20s was irresponsible’ which hasn’t helped but if you feel ready then that’s all that matters.

Yes normal! We were pretty much the exact same, just a year or two older. Even when we had planned for me to come off the pill and it came to it I literally just kept saying 'are we sure?' Even though we knew we were. But trust me, there was nothing more I wanted than two lines on a test, especially seeing people get them on the conception board here.

I think it's just a huge (if not the biggest) life change to get your head around. Try and enjoy TTC and go for it.

Im now 28 weeks pregnant and yes I still get moments of 'oh this is really happening' (which I think is defo normal, especially for the first) but we are so happy and excited.

It is normal but also it is a massive life altering event. I couldn’t ever have had a child in my 20’s as I was off backpacking and figuring out career & generally just enjoying life. However if you’re happy with where you’re at then go for it! Even with support it’s massive shift in life and no one can prepare you for it so you just have to throw yourself in at the deep end!

I didn't start trying until 30 by which point I was soooo ready and had exhausted the previous chapter in my life and was ready for something new.
If you don't feel like that yet maybe just wait? It's lovely to be super excited about a new baby coming, rather than scared (of course a little bit of apprehension is normal but you wouldn't want that to be the main feeling or even a big one!)
Just enjoy your DINK years for a bit longer!
