hi all! fairly new to this! i’ve been making myself worried sick for weeks about this subject. all my close friends that have had babies say that when they’re around loud noise or play music onto their belly’s their baby moves like crazy!! where as mine doesn’t move at all… obviously i’ve googled to see what that says but it’s still not giving my any confidence. anyone else feel the same? or if the same happened to you and you’ve given birth to a baby with perfect hearing please let me know!! thank you x

I didn’t know this was a thing, mine never did this!

How far into your PG are you @rosie1901?

rosie1901 · 07/08/2023 08:19

Ok so both of mine did react to loud noises but you do have to think loud, like an old fashioned phone or a burglar alarm in the middle of the night or rock music on the radio and cranking up the volume.

IHeartGeneHunt · 07/08/2023 08:27

Mine never did, the only outside thing she reacted to was me having a bath, she got hiccups every time!

I'm 24 weeks. Baby jumps at random loud noises such as when I sneeze or when the concert first starts up. After that there will be certain songs he'll wiggle to, the rest not so much. Certain pitches I've felt him actively retract from the front 🙈.

Adores his dads voice though. Every time he hears it he wiggles away and seeks out his hand to bump into. People say its early but I'm absolutely convinced he recognises it. Anyone else tries to touch him it's like musical statues when the music stops 😂. He doesn't like people moving him so if someone starts waving/poking a bit he curls up as far away as possible and refuses to move. Midwives have found it hilarious, but means he is ridiculously uncooperative in scans. He also kicks anything that rests on the bump or me if I start slouching over a bit like erm excuse me I'm in here, this is my space, straighten up.

All babies are different, I wouldn't worry!

@rosie1901 mine literally reacted to one loud noise when I was about 20 something weeks and I panicked that it hurt her ears 🤣 and she never did it again, she wouldn’t move any differently for anything really, just the same all day! Now she doesn’t wake up when our dog barks or there’s a loud noise, I think they’re used to it!

MoonLion · 07/08/2023 08:56

OP are you getting kicks at other times? I don't remember any of mine reacting to loud noises.

My only pregnancy symptom was a bump and a love of fresh Orange juice. My baby hardly ever moved like anyone else - I never saw a hand or foot poking out, they never went crazy to music, the didn't keep me awake rolling about, my belly never ' rippled' when they turned etc. fast forward to the most delightful 'easy' newborn and now, the most delightful ' easy' toddler. Those who had all the thrashing and baby going crazy to music had a hard time of it . . . And still are! As long as you can feel baby moving, don't worry 😊

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 07/08/2023 09:07

As long as your baby is following their movement pattern that’s what counts.

every pregnancy I’ve had had been different, but all that matters is the pattern for that pregnancy.

Roollie · 07/08/2023 09:07

I don't remember mine doing this either. I didn't know it was a thing!

rosie1901 · 07/08/2023 10:38

DD hardly moved, just shuffled about a bit to get more comfy. 26 years on she still likes a good nap Wink

As long as you can feel movements as normal, I think it's fine. Neither of mine ever noticeably reacted to any noises.

Mumof1andacat · 07/08/2023 11:23

Bump never reacted to a thing. No food, drink, voices or noises.

PickledScrump · 07/08/2023 13:28

We ran a pub which had live (often very loud rock/metal) music throughout my pregnancy and she never moved to it. We often joke she’s got bat hearing because she can hear a packet rattle from a mile away. She hears a tv show starting from several rooms over and I have to go into the room to check as I can’t hear it.
