Does anyone know if it varies from trust to trust? Asking on behalf of my husband who I've told to go and look at his trusts policy/handbook for a definitive answer but he's not told his work yet.

From what I've read by googling, some say you need 12 months service by the beginning of the week the baby is due (which he'd have), others say you need 12 months service 15 weeks before the baby is due (which he wouldn't have).

Of course the information could be out of date or vary from trust to trust just wondered if anyone's other half works for NHS?

DH was NHS for baby 1, it was full pay and he has to have been there a year I think. This was EEast ambulance service.

Was it 1 year by the baby's birth or 1 year by the time you were 25 weeks pregnant? That's what the OP is querying

I know in my trust occupational pay is based on 12 months by the end of the 15th week before due date (so 25 weeks) I think that's pretty standard practice. Others I know in different trusts are also the 12 months by 25 weeks. Unfortunately he really is just going to need to ask his line manager unless you happen to find someone on here that's in the same trust.

Our trusts policy is below but it looks like everyone's trust is different so think he will have to look at his own trust docs

An employee who has at least 12 months’ continuous service with one or more NHS employers at the beginning of the week in which the baby is expected, or for adoption the date of placement, will be entitled to full pay during their two weeks Paternity Leave.
