36 week growth scan

Hello

I had my 36 week growth scan yesterday, I was a little surprised as said the baby weighs 6lbs 12 already 😂 I'm now panicking more about labour as sounds like by time my due date comes with putting half a lb on every week, going to be a bigger bub!

Is this a normal weight at this stage, if anyone else has had this scan - what was your babies weight?

Worried I'm going to birth a big 10 pounder 😅 which is fine as long as baby is good, but I was just very curious what everyone else's baby is weighing xxx

I had one with my last baby 7 months ago and they told he he was 9lb 6 and that was at 36 weeks and had another one at 38 weeks and then again they said 10lb 4.... I gave birth at 39+4 and he was only 7lb 5 so it's not always right I wouldn't worry too much x

@mummybear247 oh wow that's such a difference to what they said isn't it!
Ok that makes me feel better thank you! Xxx

Was accurate for us! Like you say, they often put on around 0.5lbs per week so would be around 2lbs more at due date. Our first measured 6lbs 12 at 36 weeks, born at 40 weeks - 8lbs 12, and second measured 6lbs 3 at 36 weeks, born at 40 weeks - 8lbs exactly. I think anything under 9lbs isn't considered "big". Good luck, sounds like baby is healthy and growing right on track!

Some times they can be right but not always good luck they do say the bigger the baby the easier it is x

@PollyPeep Ahh yours weighed exactly what mine does now 6lbs 12! Lovely thank you, in my head I was worried I was going to have a 10 pounder, made me worried about labour lol! Yes baby seems to be growing nicely they said 🥰🤍 xxx

I think those scans are wrong more often than they're right. DD Was predicted to be over 9lb by 42 weeks and she was born at 40+13 8lb on the nose

@Spottypineapple yes I have heard this! All getting so close now, so exciting! Xxx

Mine weighed 6 lbs at 33w, as I have polyhydroaminos; big baby is expected I m trying to walk more and eat less to limit chances of GD at this stage! But I do think my baby will be bigger!

Summertime109 · 02/08/2023 21:28

What percentile does that make baby for you and are they concerned about you giving birth?

My last was 8lb 15.5oz. He was predicted to be about 4.5oz more and measured off my growth chart as I’m only 5 foot tall.

Chanhedforthis · 02/08/2023 21:33

I had Gestational diabetes with my last pregnancy, growth off the charts she was estimated to be 11lbs

She was 8lb 1!

Dont worry op it really is an estimate

emlouba · 03/08/2023 06:29

@Shinea my friend actually gave birth to a baby that weighed 10lbs recently and she is absolutely fine, I think it's the thought isn't it? Good luck with every thing xx

@Summertime109 oh wow really, i am hearing they get it wrong a lot - someone told me yesterday that it's usually wrong 20% either way, no they aren't concerned at all about me giving birth which is good - I think I have got into my own thoughts worrying if going to be really big, but what will be will be 🥰 xx
