hello ladies
i have recently found out i am expecting and i am using 2 apps to help track this.
i am wondering weather i should use my gestational age 8+1 to track my pregnancy or my foetal age 6+1.
as the apps use the gestational age i feel like its giving me false info about the babies developments as its 2 weeks ahead of its actual development and i don't want to be disheartened when i have my 12 week scan and they tell me I'm two wees less than i thought.

any help appreciated :)

I'm not using any apps apart from Badger Notes which the midwives use, and the NHS pregnancy tracker. Both midwife and NHS refer to gestational age, that's what's been referred to at my scans, it's never occurred to me to use anything else, and I didn't realise the apps would use anything else. Why do they do that?

You calculated from the 1st day of ur last period. Its impossible to tell the exact day u ovulated.

all my apps use the gestational age but i remember at a previous pregnancy's scan they gave me the foetal age and i remember being quite disappointed as i was 2 weeks prior to what i was expecting And i don't want the same to happen again.

But every single pregnancy in the world known to man has two weeks ish between the foetal age and gestational age.

Because G age is calculated from the first day of your last period and F age is the date of conception/implantation? Which is usually two weeks ish after your period started!

NHS, and most apps use G age for all appointments etc.

F age is very uncommon to use ?

yes i know i was just surprised they use this one at my last scan and not the gestational age

Nhs always use the 1st day of your last period then date you correctly at the 12 week scan as not everyone ovulated 14 days after 1st day of period. When they date you at the 12 week scan they add on 2 weeks so give gestational age which is what all of the apps base on. Go by the date you get at the 12 weeks scan.
