Will hospital induce early for painful hemmoroids?

I have two large thrombosed hemmoroids.

I am in agony. They are the size of bouncy balls, they're black and I can barely even walk.

I am 34 + 2 weeks pregnant , and also have polyhydramnios ( extra fluid) which I assume is what's causing the hemmoroids in the first place.

I lost my plug on Sunday and on that same day all a total of SIX hemmoroids appeared. I was at the doc and she never checked them but. Prescribed the scheriproct cream and also suppositories. It shrunk 3 of them and now I'm left with one small thrombosed one and two large thrombosed ones that only seem to be getting worse. The had a look myself and they are horrific looking to say the least

Initially they were offering me induction at 39 weeks which I was really against cos I wanted to go myself and kinda have feeling i won't make it that far but now I'm just in agony all of a sudden and feel like the only cure is going to be actually having the baby.

Does anyone have any experiences with this? Baby is measuring above average and healthy and my first baby was induced at 37 + 6. I think cos plug is gone etc I'd be favourable but wondering if this is something they'd consider?

I'm waiting on a call back from my own gp after lunch to see what she says.

I struggled so much with piles with my first - I had a 36 hour labour and prior I was asking CONSTANTLY if someone would do something about my terrible piles as I was in agony. They didn’t, I had to spend my final weeks with an ice pack wrapped in kitchen roll in between my cheeks 🙄.
I had a horrific labour, and afterwards I had a 2nd degree tear. I never healed properly and had to have surgery a year later (they wouldn’t do it any earlier as it was classed as “post partum” and had to see if it would sort itself out, my daughter is now almost 6 and I still struggle with it. I always say my next one would be elective as it’s caused nothing but problems for me. And nobody can seem to help!!!

listen to your gut. Xxx

Can your little one have an extended sleepover at grandparents for a few days? Thrombosed piles in pregnancy are no joke. If you could keep the weight off them for a while it might make them less angry while you're using the creams/ suppositories/ ice. Bed is the only place to be right now.

I had a little boy Smile very happy and grateful to have my boys after some losses last year.

I pushed for 3 hours with my eldest; that broke the piles good and proper.

I totally understand the natural birth part. I had forceps and tears and an epi with my eldest. It was a very very long and challenging birth.

I chose an ELCS as I also have ulcerative colitis and honestly it's the best thing I could've ever done.

Best of luck.

Aww congrats on your little boy 🥰🥰🥰 hope ye are all ok and recovering well!

I am still not any better any also considering an elcs now too as I don't know what could happen with natural birth. So hard to know!

Ah god, being a woman can be so cruel sometimes 😭 I think you're right to go down the section route in the future.

I don't know what to think at the moment cos I am just getting no relief whatsoever and birth is getting so close now. I really want a natural birth and hard to believe it's all just going out the window cos of flipping hemmoroids that came out of nowhere 😢

Yes my husband is brill and leaving me rest but I went to my mams house for her 60th yesterday and paid for it all night tonight in pain. Even tho it was just tea and cake and I sat the whole time. I think laying horizontally may be the only thing for it. And even at that I don't know if it will make a difference as I've been taking medicine for 6 days now.

I’d seriously consider a c section. I was induced with my first and didn’t have piles before but did after the birth. I can’t imagine how horrendous it would be even I had piles already.
and you know with induction it’s not going to be a quick labour.
my second was an emergency c section and honestly if I’d known how much better than induction it was (for me at least) I’d have pushed for it all along.

dijonketchup · 23/07/2023 06:43

I am so sorry, you don’t deserve this. Those last few weeks of pregnancy feel like they drag on forever, even without all you’re going through. But it will end one day soon and you can start your recovery.

I would be really unsure in your position, ELCS might be difficult to recover from if you already can’t move around due to this but equally I can’t imagine pushing is advisable. Either way, they will give you all the drugs you want for the pain, so hold that thought…

Irishwifey · 23/07/2023 15:27

Thank you ladies.

I'm really not sure what to do cos I know c section is far from the easy way out with big recovery times too.

I am just so afraid of vaginal/natural birth when I already can't even just lay in bed comfortably let alone labour and push a baby out. I'm also afraid that I'll do some lasting damage in the long run if I try to. Even tho I strangely still want to do this more so than section but need to be sensible.

I don't really trust the docs I prefer hearing other people's actual experience cos you know yourself, it can be a case im them saying whatever is easier for them and not really listening or making a plan . Ugh I dunno. Lost !

All I kept in my mind whilst feeling anxious about my section was that my piles would get worse if I pushed. And I was not going to let that happen because it just isn't worth the pain I was in back then. It made the newborn phase miserable for me.

You've got to do what's right for you. This baby could come in 3 pushes and you could be right as rain and go home the same day. I couldn't take that risk as I have other medical conditions which would've been impacted severely by another protracted and complicated birth.

A good talk with your midwife might help?

toomanyleggings · 24/07/2023 07:11

Bloody hell. Just wanted to offer some sympathy. I’ve had piles when not pregnant and they weren’t thrombosed. Can’t imagine what you’re going through. Poor thing. I have been induced at 39 weeks though and personally I would go a c section over a 39 week induction. You’ve got to think of your mental health afterwards as well. You’re having a horrible time now, throw in a potentially horrendous labour and then newborn boot camp… Nope. Be kind to yourself

toomanyleggings · 24/07/2023 07:19

Just to add at 39 weeks you would be very lucky if an induction only needed pessary, and ARM. You’ll likely need the drip and drip contractions are v.v different from natural ones ( my first I had a drug free natural labour and there’s def a difference )I thought they were trying to electrocute me. You’re also more likely to need interventions like forceps etc and could end up with an emergency c section anyway.

olympicsrock · 24/07/2023 07:21

You need a elective c section ! Inductions are awful - such strong painful contractions.

I had induction ending in EMCS and then second time round ELCS . Second option was much better. I made an ok recovery . Would recommend on your situation as pushing with be agony and make your piles much worse.

HairyKitty · 24/07/2023 07:35

@Irishwifey you really need to discuss with your medical/midwife team asap what the expected or possible outcome might be if you deliver vaginally. They may tell you the hemorhoids will make no difference at all which will give you more confidence to go for natural birth onset.
You do need this information before you can make an informed decision about requesting a c section

Irishwifey · 24/07/2023 16:31

Thank you every body . I am currently up and maternity a and e waiting to see someone AGAIN 😭 they just haven't gotten any better at all in fact they've gotten a little worse.

I'm not sleeping and losing my mind. Dunno what I expect them to do but I'm here anyway so will keep you all posted.

❤️❤️❤️ I appreciate the support so much

You poor bloody woman, I've been wincing reading all your posts, I was the same in pregnancy and that pain really takes your breath away doesn't it. No one interested because it's 'just piles' I really hope someone gets you sorted out this afternoon, sending you so much sympathy!!

CoachBeardsJane · 24/07/2023 16:47

Have you tried putting a load of sugar on them? It sounds insane but it works for colostomy and ileostomy prolapses

I agree. They aren't giving you enough information to make a proper decision.

Ask them what are the most likely, less likely but possible, and rare outcomes in these cases and cases they've seen in the past like yours. They need to give you details on what will actually happen to the piles, are they expected to burst, to go down, to need surgery, what? You need to insist on answers to these questions.

Do you want an epidural during labour?

I'm so so sorry this is happening to you, so painful. I really hope A and E help you.

Bonbontutu · 24/07/2023 19:55

Could you ask for a C-section and then if they've calmed down a bit by then go for a vaginal birth? Don't know if that's okay or not.

Mine appeared and were thrombosed at 39 weeks pregnant because I had a week long d&v bug. They did manage to calm down by the time I went into labour at 41 weeks (although were very much still hanging around). I was terrified of labour while they were bad.

I had diamorphine during labour (just before pushing) and no other pain relief (not by choice). The piles didn't even enter my thoughts during this time. For me the after effects of birth were a walk in the park compared to the full force of thrombosed piles. You'd think that pushing in labour might have made them flare up again, but it didn't.

Irishwifey · 26/07/2023 21:33

Thank you so much everybody. I am so happy they have started to calm down a little. I'm still not 100 percent but feel I can catch my breath again I am soooo relieved 😌 the medicine must have started to work.

Thank you so much to all of you for holding my hand through that, I'm so happy to be coming out the other side 😌 hopefully they just keep getting better ❤️‍🩹
