Positive pregnancy test, then negative, now positive?!

Sorry in advance, I don't know most of the acronyms on here, but could really do with some advice.

Been TTC for a few months now, was 2 days late for AF last Thursday so tested and got a super faint line. Tested again Saturday morning with a digital test and it said pregnant! Woohoo. All last week was having super bad cramping (it got 10 x worse at night) but haven't really been having other symptoms yet. I am tired but I'm always tired as I have issues sleeping (made worse by this cramping).

I had a few little streaks of blood when I wiped, so I thought I'd do a test just for peace of mind and then it was negative - not a line in sight. (Tested afternoon on Wednesday). Then I realised I had weed about every hour and my wee was about as clear as water, and maybe it was too diluted.

So I tested again this (Thursday) morning and have this (see picture). It's far fainter than the first line I got last week, but it is there, right? I still don't have AF, but the intense cramping has stopped. A few little aches here and there, mostly in my back, actually.

Any advice for what to do now? Pretty please. Going a bit stir crazy. When I tried to talk to the doctor/midwife about the cramping they didn't really want to know, so I'm loathed to try them again as I know the answer will be wait till 6 weeks. I'm technically 5 weeks at the moment and I'm not sure I can wait another week to be certain.

It sounds like a miscarriage - I’m sorry. In my experience tests don’t get lighter unless this has happened. Test first thing in the morning with FMU and compare but the tests should get obviously darker each day.

Your HCG only doubles every 48 hours so may not necessarily get much darker each day, try waiting 48 hours between tests to double check and if the results are still confusing maybe talk to your GP about getting blood tests done?

Thank you both for your replys. Unfortunately after this I have been bleeding heavily bright red blood with insane cramping, don't think baby stuck this time :( I think it's my second in a row that hasn't :( this sucks.

Hi op . My tests got lighter aswell not a clue why then started to get thicker . I'm ten weeks now so it's just a case of waiting . I had lots of cramping also but no blood. X

My tests are now negative and the docs confirmed it's very likely a miscarriage. It wasn't meant to be this time :( Congratulations on 10 weeks! Xx

Cramping in early pregnancy can be pretty normal as your body adjusts, but if it gets intense or is accompanied by heavy bleeding, it's best to consult a healthcare professional.

In terms of testing, using a One Step HCG Pregnancy Test can be helpful. Remember, diluted urine can affect test results, so consider testing with concentrated urine, like the first morning pee.

However, if there's ongoing concern, especially with changes in symptoms or bleeding, it might be worthwhile seeking a second opinion from a different healthcare provider.
