9 weeks pregnant- Nausea overwhelming

Hello ☺️

Me again - if you've seen my previous posts.

I am currently 9 weeks pregnant and honestly I have never felt so unwell. I have severe nausea constantly, retching when I eat/drink. I manage say one meal (by that I mean soup/a few chicken goujons) a day. Drink wise I'm managing about 750ml a day? Including ice pops.

I have tried Stemetil, had the injection which was great but the tablets just made me feel lightheaded and didn't really change anything. I've started cyclizine today which hasn't had any impact infact I think I feel more nauseous if that's possible.

I have been off work for 2 weeks and the guilt is overwhelming. Please say I'm not the only one here... I'm worrying now if this is normal to feel so rubbish.

Thanks xx

Sorry you're feeling so bad. I was sick several times a day with my first and it felt like I was surviving on ready salted crisps and honeydew melon. Icey smoothies were just about manageable.

Vitamin b6 and b12 can help too.

I will say though it improved at 10 weeks and after 12 weeks I was only nauseous a couple of times. So you should hopefully be nearing the end of the worst bit.

Hi 😊
I was sick every day for about 8 weeks, surviving off a couple of crackers a day! 9 weeks is literally the worst point so hopefully you'll feel better soon.
Don't worry about baby, they get what they need... my little girl was 8lb10... 97th percentile and I hardly ate! X

MrsCass88 · 19/07/2023 20:50

I assure you, your not alone. My morning sickness started at around week 6 and by week 9 it was awful! Being sick three times a day and just constant nausea. The only saving grace was I work from home otherwise I don't know how I would of coped. Last week ( at 14 weeks ) I decided to visit my GP as it wasn't improving. And was prescribed Cyclizine. Its stoped me being physically being sick but the nauses is still there.
Im sorry I don't have any solutions, but I am just reaching out so you know your not going through this alone! Im pretty sure alot of people I know that I've told thinks I'm exaggerating my symtons, but the truth is some women generally and unfortunately experience morning sickness worse than others.

This is exactly how I feel. I feel like when people ask they then will say oh just get up and get going eat little and often, I wish I could I really do!! I tried to wfh but it just didn't work, I have to just sleep to stop the retching and living in the bathroom 🤣 xx

In both my pregnancies, week 9 was the absolute worst week. I just lay in bed crying, I could barely move. It didn't go away completely until 15/20 weeks but gradually got much better. There are lots of other pills to try, I think it was prochlorperazine that worked for me. Good luck it'll be over soon!

Yes! This is me atm, just cry because I feel so helpless. I try and do things around the house but have to lay down because I feel faint!
Thank you for being reassuring it does really help xx

I had terrible sickness. People used to ask if I’d tried ginger tea and I would feel like punching them.
My only advice is don’t allow yourself to get fobbed off by professionals but it sounds like they are taking you seriously.

I know!! Or try ginger biscuits - eat little and often. I wish I could! I don't think anyone truly understands this unless they've been through it! Thank you 😊 x

Must be having a girl, they make you very sick lol

Op I feel your pain my sickness started at 4 weeks until birth if I didn't take my meds. I ended up on a combination of cyclizine and ondansetron which seems to work but if I missed a tablet the sickness was back. I literally couldn't keep a thing down and was hospitalised on a drip. I honestly recommend keep going back to doctors if the medication isn't working until you find the right combination that works for you xx

Oh that sounds horrible 😩😩 I'm pleased I'm not being sick but then I think will it ease the nausea a little if I am! Thank you xxx

It didn’t for me. Vomiting normally makes you feel better for a while when you’re ill (really hungover) but it did nothing for my pregnancy sickness.

tinkertots · 19/07/2023 21:40

You have my sympathy op, I was the same with DD1 who was also IVF. I was prescribed tablets but didn't want to take them and was on the sick for a month, even the thought of the washing machine used to set me off!

I found snacking on savoury things constantly a massive help, and would also have a few bland oven chips for tea because that's all I could stomach.

For me it lasted until week 14, then came back with a vengeance at week 16, then went away completely

Omg about the washing machine! I'm the same 🤣 this is hell. Thank you so much! I really can't wait for this to settle just to have some normality in my life xx
