So went to the doctors yesterday and they suspect SPD.

Never done physio. Just want advice and experience of who have done it.

Tia 😊 x

I went for my first apt with physio a couple of weeks back. Was lots of chatting about what I do on the daily, checking me over to see what I can and can't do, advice on exercises and how to lessen the impact on my day to day life (pacing, trying to avoid sustained standing/sitting etc). Left with a plan to try and do my exercised a few times a day every day and come back in 6 weeks or so and see how I'm getting on and if at any point I need a support belt or crutches etc they can sort it out. Overall very positive experience

@JD90 thank you for your response. Been helpful. Hopefully I won't have to wait long to hear back for my first appointment. In my job I stand a lot and its really not helping. X

Hi dear! I can assure you overall a good soothing experience throughout the physiotherapy. SPD is common in women during pregnancy. My sister had it, and she opted for physiotherapy. It involves some exercises and just following the guidelines of the physiotherapist. I hope it will work for you too. But always try to consult a specialized physiotherapist. Take care.

Will it be a once a week thing? Or just one session. I hear different things x

I had physio for SPD with my second. I saw her twice. They may supply you with a support belt or recommend one.

They got me to lay on my back with my knees bent together and I had to slowly part them. When it started to cause pain they measured the distance and wrote it in my birth notes so that the midwives wouldn’t part my legs to far during labour but to be honest that wasn’t observed.

Thank you for commenting. Good to know. Think I'll need a support belt tbh but wait to see what they say. My job is so physically demanding and it's making it worse but trying to cut back x
