20 weeks and so tired

I've had a rubbish pregnancy so far. Single mum which isn't an issue but no one to help me locally.

Had morning sickness which I think has just worn of, and now some mystery upper right hand side back pain they are investigating.

I just feel exhausted today and called in sick. I need to try and eat nutritious food.

I'm just so tired and started a new job the month before getting pregnant (bad timing).

Constipation has gone which is good.

Any ideas?

Iron tablets?

Pollywoddles · 17/07/2023 18:14

Came here to ask if you’ve had your bloods done? Quite common to be low on iron in pregnancy which would account for the tiredness.

TomorrowToday · 17/07/2023 18:32

Yep my bloods are all ok - recently retested.

I'm similar. Lost over a stone with morning sickness, 21 weeks and still awaiting this mysterious energy boost! I'm still napping a lot. Bloods are all fine, but I have placenta previa and I'm bleeding very regularly which is terrifying. I'm scared to go to the bathroom in case I look down and see blood and clots. I'm on first name basis with triage midwives already because of it.

I'm lucky I have a very supportive DH and he's taken over all household stuff, including cooking, because even though the nausea has mostly gone I still gag if I so much as try to make a sandwich. If food appears in front of me I'm fine, I just cannot assemble or cook it.

I'm just desperately hoping baby will be OK and I'll get to have words with it when it arrives about the stress and anxiety it's put me through 😂.

I’m with you - I’m 8 weeks and feel absolutely useless because of fatigue and nausea, but feel like a total wimp because LOADS of women work through pregnancy and most don’t even tell people in the first trimester, so must just be trucking on without complaining

just posting some solidarity - pregnancy is really hard 😖

I keep getting told pregnancy just affects everyone differently. I remember telling a sonographer I'd been struggling at 12 weeks and she said pregnancy is an awful condition and she couldn't believe she put herself through it 3 times 😂. She assured me she felt full sympathy but she promised it was worth it.

I'm very grateful to be pregnant and l'm very attached to my baby. I miss it's kicks when it moves to a place I can't feel them as clearly. If I see blood I'm terrified as to whether my baby is OK. I'm protective of my bump. Still think pregnancy is god awful though. Wish the age old stork dropping a baby off at your door was true!

Pregnancy is hard. Give yourself some slack and do whatever makes you feel better. It’s the best excuse! I’m 13 weeks and last few days been so down I couldn’t stop crying. Today? Everything’s great! But salad makes me feel sick now. 🤷‍♀️

Please don’t say that! Actually loads of women struggle and have a really hard time with work. You just don’t see until later. Also some women really don’t feel the affects until later. Everyone’s different and if the women who feel ‘fine’ felt like you do, then I’m sure they’d give themselves some slack!

I think 8 weeks is supposed to be the worst time. Look at what your body is actually doing. It’s incredible.
