35 weeks - how to cope mentally with last few weeks?

I'm 35 weeks and just starting to feel really down and depressed. I'm so sore, my feet and ankles are swollen and painful constantly no matter how much I elevate them etc, I've been constipated for the entire 35 weeks, the hip pain is unreal, I can't sleep and just constantly hungry too. Getting a bit anxious and already feel like I won't be able to withstand labour.

I'm working until 40 weeks as I need the maternity leave for when baby is here. Is it normal to feel so done and down? Any advice for mentally coping with this ?? My midwife hasnt been much help at all sadly. Thanks.

Hi OP, didn’t want to read and run because although my little man is 3 I can remember those last few weeks vividly! You just have to remember you’re on the home stretch and the end result is really worth it! I know now it feels so shit but soon it will be over and you’re into the next phase! Can you get something for the constipation? Maybe book in for a mummy massage or something? Just nice things to see you through the last few weeks. It’s totally normal to feel a bit low pregnancy is such a massive thing in so many ways xx

Agree with PP, you are nearly there!! Try Laxido for the constipation & do everything (work, housework) absolute bare minimum x

Working to 40 weeks? No wonder you feel so awful. Your body is telling you to REST. This last stage of pregnancy is so important for the health of you and your baby; honestly I'd prioritise both over your future maternity leave.

I was in agony with my hips at night too and my midwife referred me to a physio who gave me a support belt to wear. I still get pain after fourish hours in bed but it's much more manageable. I also find that although I feel fine while I'm walking I really pay for it later when I go to bed so try to rest more of you can.

Rest as much as possible.Labour and delivery are a marathon!(apologies if it’s not your first & you already know this)Yoga,go cinema, read books, any other hobbies you have. Make the most of the time before baby arrives & you’re into the newborn madness.

Thank you all for the replies! Ended up in triage earlier in the week and blood test is indicating suspected pre-eclampsia. Being monitored every few days to see how things are going, feeling bit anxious and scared now to be honest. But just trying to take it day by day.
