Travel with a newborn?

Hi, just curious to know what's the earliest people have traveled internationally with a newborn. My husband and I live abroad and I would love to use my 3 month maternity leave to travel home with the baby since our families won't be able to visit. It's an 8h flight. It would take us a few weeks to get a passport for our baby anyways so we wouldn't travel immediately after... Would appreciate if you could share your experiences!

I did at 3 months and managed fine, even with having to change flights, but I did breastfeed, so didn't have to consider bottles etc.
I personally wouldn't have gone earlier than 1 month/ month+half, due to my recovering from birth.

I took DCs abroad at 9 weeks and 11 weeks. It worked perfectly because they do so little at that age.

We went at 10 weeks, was super easy x

We went to Cuba when dd was 3 months. It was fine.

I flew 7hrs with ds when he was 6 weeks old, I was fine 🙂. He was ebf which made things super easy. We just fed and slept on the plane, and the staff were lovely to us.

Middle East at 4 months. Similar length of flight.

Wouldn’t have done it before she had had all of her vaccinations. Flight was a doddle but I exclusively expressed and didn’t realise that the pressurised environment would be an issue. Nipples exploded. 😬

Think about what healthcare system is available in the place you're travelling to and make sure you have a plan/insurance in place if required. Babies until 6 months in particular are more vulnerable health-wise and I probably wouldn't choose to take them on a plane full of circulating germs but that's your choice

8 weeks - it was the easiest trip I've done with her by far!

Thanks all! I'm not that concerned about the logistics of flying or healthcare back home but yes, I'm a bit worried about traveling before he gets at least the 2 month vaccination series. Glad to hear people traveled without complications!
