In so much pain. Never had this in first pregnancy. 16 weeks, 17 on saunday. My legs, lower back and hips hurt real bad. When I walk my left hip clicks/grinds.

Doesn't help I'm on my feet with my job and wondering if I should go to the doctors on Monday.

Tia x

I had SPD, was signed off at 12 weeks for the rest of my pregnancy, as I couldn't stand or walk for more than a few mins, and couldn't drive, so commuting an hour to my teaching job was not compatible! Some of my tips would be when rolling over in bed keep knees together - generally try to do most movement with knees together. Do not bear weight on one leg alone, sit down to get dressed, do shoes, shave etc. Try not to twist as you go from standing to sitting and vice versa. I saw both a physio and osteopath to help manage pain. I tried a support belt but found it too uncomfortable, however physio strapping tape to better support bump did help. I ended up using a walking stick to be able to walk at all, crutches would have been given but I can't use them due to previous shoulder injury. I got the grinding pain, also a pain like an elastic band pinging in groin, a pain like being kicked between the legs, but my absolute favourite was when I would stand up and it felt like my pelvis was moving in opposite directions! The good news is it all disappeared after birth, and in the first 2 years after I can only recall a couple of times where I've had a similar little tweak for a moment, and nothing since then me for years. I did stick with having only one child, not just due to the SPD though! I believe it's the case that once you've had it in pregnancy it's likely to reoccur, but might not have affected previous pregnancies. Good luck Flowers

Mine hasn't got that bad but worried it will if I don't do something about my work situation. But the grinding pain is nasty. I'm glad it all disappeared after birth for you. I got shooting pain in that area but don't know if that's linked to it or not. I just wish work took me seriously. Thank you for your response. X

@yeyeahscience did you get it really early on? Did yours start bad straight away or did it gradually over time get worse x

It started just before 12 weeks, during my half term break, with me suddenly not being able to get out car and walk properly. After a few days of no improvement I went to the doctor who signed off for a few weeks, and referred for physio. A few weeks in the sharp kick pains and pelvis movement pain started, physio had confirmed SPD and I was struggling even more with mobility, like using stairs for example, so was signed off again for rest of pregnancy.

I’m so glad I found this thread! These are exactly my symptoms, I thought it was because I hadn’t exercised enough before pregnancy so now when I walk and do yoga my hips and knees are super painful. I’m going to look into a physio now.

Sounds awful. Guess it affects everyone differently x
