So baby has been head down since ive been 32 weeks and was also head down at 36 week scan. Had my 38 week midwife app today and they found baby breech. I have a consultant at 38+4 (mixed lead care) and praying for a miracle that baby has turned again.
Have a feeling they turned whilst I was sleeping as had many kicks in my side even last night .
Anyway how soon did they book you in for a section.
Also need to add how does any1 with needle phobia cope with the injections needed before section and after care..as for me personally I was never considering an epidural as a needle to my spine terrifies me 😮 and the anxiety i had about labour is now 10x worse. Also on asprin for high blood pressure all pregnancy so also scared about worse bleeding 😭

Any help on easing the anxiety or tips to try turn baby appreciated. Pleasee
Will not be getting ECV is it called as i get sore when midwives press to hard. And its supposed to be a lot worse.

There’s a website called spinning babies that gives advice on how to get baby to turn back. Might be worth a look.

I've had epidural and spinal, massively needle phobic, but they are doable,.they numb the area and just feels like a little scratch then a bit of pressure, for cannulas and blood tests I took my own numbing cream incase they refused and it made a big difference. Don't blame you on not having the ECV, baby might still turn but expect the section and good luck x

The anxiety of the needle is killing me 😪 but im not holding no hope of baby turning in 3 days. Im guessing il be given a date before 40 weeks for the section. But naw ive not heard anything good about ecv so il give it a miss. Thank you. Its defs ruining the end of my 1st pregnancy now but 😪

As someone said above, I would definitely look at spinning babies - there have been some success stories about managing to turn baby back around (various exercises you can do)

Additionally, if you are super keen on a vaginal birth, breech babies can actually be born vaginally - the issue is that some consultants tend to have lack of training. I would search the internet for which medical teams are trained to carry out breech births. If you see a consultant who is trained in breech births the outcomes for you and baby tend to be the same as if you had a c-section (e.g around the same risk of stillbirth) - so discuss this with the medical team and what this might mean for you and don't let them force you into a decision.

If you do need to go down the section route, the key is not to look at the needles. I had to have a section, I didn’t look at anything the anaesthetists brought in and didn’t feel a thing either. It really wasn’t very bad at all :-)
