Yes, I used to rest a brew on DS's head! It was so rounded

Dyra · 14/07/2023 10:14

Yes. Though I wasn't positive until it was confirmed by scan. Soooooo much heartburn caused by a head pushing into my stomach constantly. Felt very different to DC1 who was pretty much head down after 32 weeks.

TakeMe2Insanity · 14/07/2023 10:17

I remember feeling a foot very low and then it was confirmed.

Babdoc · 14/07/2023 10:20

The spelling is “breech”, as in breeches (trousers) - presenting by the trouser area, i.e. bottom, instead of the normal vertex presentation, with the head.
As opposed to “breach” meaning to break through, e.g. water breaching a dam.
And yes, that big bony head digging in under your diaphragm and making it difficult to breathe, was very obvious to me with DD2! I was v relieved when she turned herself to vertex.

At 24 weeks I don’t think you’d really notice. I’m on no 3 and feels very different but that’s because she’s very low down compared to the others. At 24 weeks baby will be flipping all kinds of ways. The position can change within minutes

AutisticLegoLover · 14/07/2023 18:52

No. Neither did many midwives until I was in labour and hoping for a home delivery. I'm still baffled how so many missed it. The breech felt no different whatsoever to the two other babies who were the right way up. Although my breech has been the least trouble since and is now 14 !

MissBPotter · 14/07/2023 19:14

Not really but I did feel better once baby had been turned as I didn’t have a massive head sitting under my ribs! At 24 weeks baby isn’t in a fixed position so hopefully will go head down for you op!

Spottydressinggowngirl · 14/07/2023 19:16

One of mine was transverse and I could really feel it! So uncomfortable!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 14/07/2023 19:19

No. Not a single midwife or obstetrician ever commented that she was breech. Then I went into labour ten days after the due date and the midwife at the hospital did an internal and said 'I think this baby is breech'. I remember very clearly thinking 'Oh dear, we have a duff midwife here' Blush but fortunately I didn't say anything. The registrar came along with a portable ultrasound and sure enough, there she was, breech and very big. I had an emergency CS in the end. She was frank breech (ankles up by ears), 9lbs 2 ozs. Just one of those things. (The midwife was anything but duff, of course. She was great. I wish I could remember her name but it's well over 30 years ago now. Registrar terrific too, and he delivered her in the end. I owe them both so much.)

massistar · 14/07/2023 19:26

Nope! Only found out when in labour and midwife did an internal when I wasn't progressing. Ended up with an emergency c-section.

pinkoverall · 14/07/2023 19:27

Yes, my son would headbutt my ribs

AlwaysWantingIceLollies · 14/07/2023 19:27

I knew from about 30 weeks and kept telling my midwife. I could feel kicks low down and feel the pulsing of his head at the top of my bump. Told her every appointment what I thought and she just kept staying, no no this is a head and its engaged.
38 weeks she had an 'ohhh dear' moment and yes baby is breech. Sent me straight to the hospital for a scan, two days later I had him turned and was induced.

Cuwins · 14/07/2023 19:53

I knew she was as was having extra scans and she always was in them but yes I could feel it too- she was my first so I didn't really think about it but other posters describing the very low kicks and head butts to the ribs is very familiar!

scrivette · 14/07/2023 19:58

With hindsight yes, the kicks I was getting were completely different with my other pregnancies (footling breech) but the midwife didn't think she was. Luckily I had an emergency scan the day before my waters broke and had to have an emergency section.

The kicks actually felt like little feet kicking.

AnnieApple123 · 16/07/2023 20:19

Yes. I had many, many scans due to serious complications and I was always spot on with the position. This was all before 29 weeks as that was when I ended up delivering.

Tintackedsea · 16/07/2023 20:28

42 weeks pregnant

I said : are you sure the baby is the right way round? This feels and looks like a head! Pointing to the large round lump at my ribs.
Midwife said: Hahahaha! No that's just a big bottom!
They induced me.
12 hours of agony in the midwife said: Oh god! I think it's breech!

I bloody said that!

Missingmyusername · 16/07/2023 20:37

Yes. Head right under the top of my tum, in between boobs- it hurt!

ItsCalledAConversation · 16/07/2023 20:40

Yes it was a far more uncomfortable pregnancy than the others, kicks and hiccups felt different. The day the baby turned breech I felt it and it stayed that way for the rest of the pregnancy. I refused all offers to try and “turn” him and I had an elective c. section.

xXc · 14/08/2023 21:42

Hi everyone just an update that I had a 28 week scan today and I was right baby is breech! Funny how we can just tell these things sometimes, definitely far more uncomfortable pregnancy but I'm hoping baby will turn on his own. Have another scan in 4 weeks so we will see. Thanks for your responses x

My baby was unstable lie until 34 weeks. So breech, transverse and head down as kept constantly changing position. It’s totally normal at 24 or even 28 weeks for baby to be breech. 28 weeks is usually the earliest they go head down so not unusual at all 😊

YouAndMeAndThem · 14/08/2023 22:22

Yeah baby will spin about all over the place for the next 10-15 weeks so I wouldn't put too much thought into it! My 2nd baby was unstable lie, I could tell by the absolutely insane movements I got but not until after 35 weeks really. Occasionally I had a head under my right side rib cage, then an hour later I'd have 2 feet pummelling my side, and a weird lump on the opposite side which was a head 🤪🙈
