Is a TENS machine worth it?

Just that really.

Being induced in a few weeks and wondering if this is beneficial in any way?

Thanks.

I rented one from boots, I found it great for my 3 day long slow labour. I got induced and the contractions were different but it still helped. I didn't have any pain relief until I went for an emcs. This isn't a brag either, my pain threshold is terrible but the tens must have done something. Agree with pp about noticing when they take it off you!

I rented one for both of my births and that was all the pain relief that I had.

I rented one and about 4 or 5 hours into my induction was so fed up with it I ripped it off in a huff whilst DH dozed. Left it in a sticky heap in the sheets and thought nothing of it. I was induced on the ward, and was transferred fairly late into a delivery room (having already abandoned it). DH said afterwards that trying to untangle it from the bed as he packed up our stuff in a panic was an absolute nightmare, so try and avoid that if you can 😂.

I used one in all 3 of my labours but was absolutely useless in my induced labour. I really just needed an epidural it was nothing like my natural labours. I would go straight for an epidural if they suggest putting you on a drip.

Got me through three home births. I liked it.

The midwife unit I was on gave me one to use so I can't comment on which one it was, but it did help. I found if I kept it on low then turned it up when I was having a contraction it helped. It still hurt I won't lie it wasn't a magic wand but it definitely made a difference.

Yes. Life saver. Hired it from boots online. They post it to you and you post it back.
Great

Loved mine in both births but rent one. Don't bother buying. Boots used to offer that service.

I used one. I didn’t think it was working till the pad came off and I nearly got the roof!

This!

SpamIAm · 10/07/2023 22:29

I used it for an induction - I thought it was really helpful in that early stage before you can access any proper pain relief. It's a MamaTens something or other...think I got it from Boots but I bought it because it was the same price as hiring one.

halfshutknife · 10/07/2023 22:30

I was induced and they didn't allow me to use it because of induction.
