Going abroad when pregnant, what contraindications may there be?

I'll be 29 weeks when we fly.

So far so good but this is 2.5 months away! I've been very lucky so far and no issues at all... it won't be an active holiday; we'll be lazing around and eating loads at an all inclusive :)

I'm anxious about booking it because it's an expensive package holiday and what if I can't go!

Insurance covers me as long as there's nothing on my Med rec saying I can't go.

Anyone got experiences of flying this late? What might happen to mean I can't go?

First pregnancy and it's a boy. :)
Thank you

The only problem I can think of is getting a fit to fly note from your doc... the midwifes won't do it and the dr will only do it privately so maybe just phone them to check you can get one before booking. My sister is due to fly in a couple of weeks and is due in oct and this is what she needs. Otherwise go and enjoy yourself!x

I'm flying next week at 25+3 and also flew at 20 week.

Dependant on airline you can fly up to about 32 weeks for multiple pregnancy and 35 single. You don't need a fit to fly note.

Ask your midwife for advice (mine is wear flight socks) and follow that. You only need normal insurance too

If something happens and you can’t go then that’s what the insurance is for. I flew at 30 something weeks with no.1 and all fine. With no.2 I didn’t fly past 18 weeks as covid restricted that. No issue with a fit to fly note as I had private births so got one easily but I was never asked to present it anyway, still I don’t think I’d risk it so make sure you can get one if the airline requires it.

Looks like fit to fly is needed after 28 weeks with most airlines including tui...
My midwife said she can't sign these off. Does anyone in the nhs do them?

Doctors will do it but usually it's a private charge, I don't believe they're offered on the NHS.

I am 33 weeks and flew last weekend with Jet 2, this weekend with Ryan air and next weekend with Ryan air. All fine flying wise with baby. I did get asked for my fit to fly letter but Ryan air have one on their website you can print out and my midwives signed it off no problem. It's fairly common so I'm surprised your midwives won't just stamp and sign a letter if you write it out.

It's 32/35 with easyJet so they must all be different.

My midwife signed my fit to fly - I was about 5 months pregnancy I think. But, the fit to fly doc never asked for, never looked at and no one asked how far along I was. Congratulations on baby boy! V exciting. Have a lovely, relaxing hols and don’t stress about the plane

It's problems about flying/being abroad not contraindications which are the result of medicines! Congrats on baby. Just make sure you have the fit to fly and have checked your insurance details. And for more peace of mind, make sure you know the nearest doctor, hospital and taxi numbers.
