Attending Paediatric A&E during pregnancy

Would anyone be concerned about attending Children’s A&E while pregnant? I had to take my little girl 4 times during this pregnancy (throughout first and second trimester). All times waiting several hours in a confined waiting room with other sick kids. Worried about picking up infectious diseases that can cause birth defects or miscarriage. Interested to know if others have had a similar experience? TIA x

The risk is very minimal. Also if you have a child and don't stay at home all the time then you will spend lots of time with contagious children.

If if actually was an emergency each time then sounds like you couldn't avoid it, although may be good to get someone else to take them if a similar situation arises in future.

Not at all. If you were in A&E with your child then it must have been an emergency. You're the parent of that one as well as being pregnant, it doesn't excuse you from being near sick kids if your existing child is in an emergency situation even if it's 4 times. What would you do with a newborn in the same scenario?

Wouldn’t think twice about it personally. You’ll be getting a bunch of germs from DC1 childcare anyway

Contagious children (MMR and CP) are separated away from the main waiting area here so as to not put the vulnerable at risk.
