Congratulations! Welcome to the twin mum club.

Do you have other children? What gestation will twins be? What support will you have with babies, and for things like doing your blood thinning injections? Preparation depends on these things

Congratulations! I didn’t have twins but here are some tips. Peppermint tea for after, I had very bad trapped wind, it took a while to go to the toilet after so get something to help with that, flip flops are must - my water retention was bad after - fine before birth, pillow to sit on when driving home, you need to do a good wee before you can go home so take a water bottle with you, big black knickers are a must and comfortable trousers that go over your scar. Mine was an emergency c-section but even then it was calm and all fine, it just is difficult to move after but try to force yourself to walk a little more each day but take your time because there is no rush especially when you’ve got babies to look after. Best of luck!!

Tinyteacher- these will be my first identical boys and my partner will be off work when there born plus family just round the corner. Been alright with the injections as been doing them for a month already.

Ok sounds good - no toddler to lift and good support around you :-) glad you're sorted for the injections too... have to admit I HATED those. It was alright when the nurses in the hospital did it, but I just never got the knack and it hurt a lot and I had MASSIVE bruises.

The main thing is having someone to pass babies to you, which it sounds like you do.

There's not much to prepare really. I found the trapped wind/first poo really bad - do ask for lactulose if you're very uncomfortable, I just wasn't ready for it to be that bad. They'll give you cocodamol/ibuprofen for afters so you don't need to pack any of your own.

Being snacks. I found I was starving hungry, especially with trying to express to feed twins. Really thirsty too, so have a big refillable bottle. Obviously you're null by mouth before and hospitals are hot, so you need to be ready for that. Comfy and cool clothes that don't touch your midriff e.g. nightie and dressing down. I found I was really quite swollen for several days (big contrast to vaginal delivery where i was pretty normal if rather saggy within 12 hours) so loose dresses were all that were tolerable. Flip flops - your feet may or may not swell.

Best of luck! I assume you're planning todelivery relatively early, so they will be very sleepy to start with. That makes feeding a bit tricky, but does give you time to recover.

Congratulations in advance :)

A lot of people told me to get up and move as soon as you were allowed to, which I would second. The thing going in your favour is that it sounds like this is a scheduled c section rather than an emergency one, so at least you won't have the worst of both worlds having pushed then been cut open. Listen to your body re. pain levels, take your painkillers on the schedule you are given, set alarms to remind yourself when you are due some. I was home 3 days after mine, and doing school pickup (walk) 5 days after the c-section. Had a very speedy recovery and really recommend it (i've had one of each, second was breach). Get the biggest slippers/flip flops for after surgery. I brought wide shoes and could barely get them on as they really do pump you with fluids and you will be swollen. I tried to get my DH to clip on my pumping bra and he could barely get it on from all the fluid retention, so bring the biggest, baggiest of clothes knowing that initially things will feel a bit puffy, it took a few days to deflate. Also recommend granny pants that go up to your belly. The belly support bands were really useful in the first 1-2 weeks too.
