Did a post recently about my waters spontaneously breaking at 41 weeks but no signs of regular contractions.

Tomorrow I'll most likely be taken to delivery and be given pitocin drip.

▫️ what does it feel like to have this?

▫️ how soon after did your contractions start?

▫️how soon from the drip was baby in your arms?

▫️ did you need a epidural?

▫️ does it have a control level as in they start it off slower and build it up etc?

▫️does it make you feel sick or dizzy?

If anyone can help with questions I'd appreciate it!

Yep, I had it for DS.

what does it feel like to have this? I had my waters broken and then they put the drip in. All good so far.

▫️ how soon after did your contractions start? Within about 10 minutes.

▫️how soon from the drip was baby in your arms? Four hours.

▫️ did you need a epidural? Nope, just gas and air.

▫️ does it have a control level as in they start it off slower and build it up etc? I don't think so. The contractions do come pretty fast and strong from the start, I didn't get any slow build up !

▫️does it make you feel sick or dizzy? No. I'd had a baby before, and it didn't feel any different from when I had her. Apart from the fact that the contractions were hard and fast right from the start, there were no differences. It was good to get it over quickly !

Best wishes !

I've had it with both my babies. Drip started at 37+1, and 37+5 weeks respectively.

What does it feel like to have this?
Not entirely sure what you mean. Felt a little cool going in when it initially started, but got used to it.

How soon after did your contractions start?
About an hour with both.

How soon from the drip was baby in your arms?
DC1 11.5 hours, vaginal birth, no issues. DC2 about 16 hours, but there were pauses. DC2 was also a C-section as he got stuck.

Did you need a epidural?
DC1 no, but I also didn't want one. I had diamorphine at 5cm (about 5 hours in) though as well as vast amounts of gas+air. DC2 yes. However DC2 was malpositioned, so labour progress was slow. I requested the epidural after 10 hours on the drip (5cm), and got it an hour or so later. The drip was off while I was waiting. Contractions continued for some time, but gradually got weaker and more tolerable.

Does it have a control level as in they start it off slower and build it up etc?
Yes. They will double the dosage every 30 minutes until you're contracting 3 times in 10 minutes for 1 minute. For me that was the penultimate dose with DC1, and the maximum dose with DC2.

Does it make you feel sick or dizzy?
No. At least it didn't with me.

I don't know whether my drip was pitocin or syntocin but I presume they are very similar..

I already had the cannula in for antibiotics they used the same one for the drip, I couldn't feel the drip going in and cannula was fine, I just didn't like the reduced mobility of the drip/abx wires and stomach monitors

Contractions started after 2 hours

Baby was born 12 hours after the drip

Yes I did ask for epidural after having gas and air for 6 hours contractions were 3-4 in 10 mins but in that time I wasn't going past 3-4cm dilated, I had the epidural and went from 4-10cm in just over 3 hours

Yes they started off slower and turned it up every 30 mins initially then every hour , but I didn't feel a gradual build up of contractions they just came strong

Didn't make me feel sick or dizzy

I had it with DC1. Didn’t feel anything much for the first two hours, slight contractions, but then they ramped up and I needed gas and air and then remifentynyl after about 5 hours. Baby was born about 11 hours after the drip went in. Needed ventouse and episiotomy but that’s nothing to do with the induction I don’t think. I was also 41 and some days overdue and waters had gone naturally but labour didn’t progress. I was just relieved to finally have it done.
