Transverse lie 33 weeks

I'm 33 weeks and baby seems to have favoured a transverse lie. It was transverse 10 days ago at a scan, and im 99% sure it still is. Totally different to my son who was head down from 28 weeks (still ended in emergency section though 🤣).

Not 100% sure what this baby is up to but it seems to be mostly lying across me and I don't think it's ever been head down. No amount of lying on my side, sitting up straight, walking, stretching etc seems to move it either.

I'm not massively concerned if I have to book a repeat section. But just wondered if anyone else had the same at this gestation? Did baby eventually move? Or did you have a section?

I had a scan at 28 weeks where my baby was head down, next scan was 31 weeks and she had turned to transverse, I spent 3 weeks worrying I would have to have a section but at my next scan she had gone head down again!

I had a transverse lie with my second, he never moved.
Went for a scan at 37 weeks and they admitted me into hosptial as they worry about waters breaking, I was in hospital for a week before they could fit me in for a section.
hopefully yours will do a little wiggle and move round.
Mine was just comfortable where he was!

I had a transverse lie when I went in at 28 weeks. She quickly turned.

@Anonymoususer456 they're little buggers aren't they?! 🤦‍♀️ so yours turned by about 34 weeks then? I bet that was a relief!

@Kathryn91 I'm sorry, what a pain! I hope your week in hospital wasn't too awful 😭 That's what I'm worried about to be honest, having to be admitted to hospital. Some trusts seek to make you stay in hospital and others don't?! It's really weird! I might be wrong, but I've just got this weird gut feeling that it isn't going to move. I don't know if it's just my brain messing with me because my son was head down and stayed put for weeks and weeks...But I've really got this gut feeling it wants to stay transverse. I wish it would move, its so bloody uncomfortable now! 😫

Mine was transverse nearly a week ago at 31 weeks and I’m pretty sure she is still transverse at nearly 32 weeks. My first daughter was head down at 28 weeks too and ended in an EMCS for a few reasons. I’m not too worried in that I’m having a planned c section anyway but I didn’t realise you have to stay in hospital from 37 weeks! No one has told me that that. So now I’m hoping she does move.

Kathryn91 · 29/06/2023 20:37

@allgoodthings84
No one told me this either, I went in for a scan and I wasn’t allowed home. It all came as a bit of a shock as I had a toddler at home too.
@Createcomet Have you got another scan booked?

Createcomet · 29/06/2023 20:41

@allgoodthings84 @Kathryn91 it's not been mentioned to me yet either but I happened to come across it online the other day and am now realising that some trusts do admit you in these circumstances. There's still a lot of time for us yet though!

No, I don't have another scan booked. They didn't seem at all concerned that it was transverse at 31 weeks, but I haven't seen my midwife since then. Interested to hear what she's got to say about it!

DD was tranverse and turned head down during week 36. Unfortunately she was back to back but that's a whole other story!

SephrinaX · 29/06/2023 20:50

My youngest was still transverse at 33 weeks. He turned at about 35 weeks and you bet I felt that. He decided to move as I was walking down the stairs one evening and I honestly felt like I was at sea or something as my contents shifted!

Kathryn91 · 29/06/2023 20:55

@Createcomet It’s all really strange, I only had extra scans as I had extra fluid they were
concerned about.
Every time I had a midwife app she kind of mentioned it but never seemed to concerned.

So I went to my scan and the lady said has anyone told you the concerns about a transverse lie late on, so I said no and she sent me up to the day assessment unit and I never came back out 😂 … well without a baby anyway

BadGranny · 29/06/2023 21:05

Two of mine were transverse later than that - one at 39 weeks. They both somersaulted in time and came out head first.

Laura0589 · 30/06/2023 07:57

I think that second babies commonly don’t engage until you go into labour, maybe ask your midwife what they do? I feel for you my first was oblique at that time and it hurts!

PinkPlantCase · 30/06/2023 09:26

The vast majority of traverse baby’s will turn before labour starts spontaneously if they are given time to.

Especially as this isn’t your first baby! It might not feel like it but baby will still have lots of space to turn around.

allgoodthings84 · 01/07/2023 09:57

After saying my baby was transverse still above I had a growth scan yesterday and she’s now moved head down so can happen quickly

annlee3817 · 01/07/2023 10:02

Mine flipped from breach, to head down to transverse right up until 36 weeks, total fidget, they checked presentation again just before they broke my waters and she was head down

FloofCloud · 01/07/2023 10:09

Both my children we a bit wonky, I preferred it because the few times my DD moved so she was head down I felt I couldn't breathe!
