Hi All,

Currently 15 weeks pregnant and hoping to start doing some shopping soon.

There's so much choice out there in terms of products to buy for a newborn and during the maternity period.

I'd like some recommendations please on products/items you use(d) and recommend!

TIA! Smile

Muslins, muslins and more muslins.

Bouncy chair was a life saver when DD was newborn. Had a nuna leaf but also had a cheap £30 she loved too.

Tutti bambini next to me or simillar

And if you're bottle feeding tommee tippee perfect prep machine.

Zip babygrows! So much easier for middle of the night change

Thank you @Luhou ! What brand nappies did you use for your little one? Any breast pump recommendations if you BF? I feel a bit overwhelmed with all of the choice out there!

It’s quite subjective but my favourites:
Tripp trapp highchair with the newborn attachment. Yoyo stroller with the newborn nest- perfect for public transport and plane travel. Zip up babygrows because poppers are stupid, love the purebaby ones. Mam bottles as you can sterilise them in the microwave without needing a separate bit of kit. Mam dummies were essential to getting a good night’s sleep. Champagne for me because I missed it 🤣

What brand nappies did you use for your little one
Pampers in the beginning with water wipes, then Amazon’s finest

Luhou · 25/06/2023 17:02

Pampers at first, switched to aldi nappies as she got bigger. Used a medla swing breast pump

Luhou · 25/06/2023 17:02

Medela*

Muslins
Breakfast biscuits for you
At least 2 cute outfits for baby that make you smile
Sweets of your choice
Lots of frozen meals

Coldheartcold · 25/06/2023 23:02

Zippy babygrows
rokit
sheepskin for the buggy (if winter baby)
ikea high chair
silver nursing cups (if breastfeeding)

I had a medela pump which worked really well but if you intend to pump a lot then I would get a hands free one or at least a pumping bra or something because it’s really awkward to hold it on!

A pack of really big full briefs for your hospital bag in case you end up having a c section.

A lightweight bouncy chair that you can easily manoeuvre between rooms whilst holding the baby, we had a cheap joie one we got of FB marketplace. This is how I; showered, went to the bathroom, cooked, did laundry and cleaned for the first 5 months.

I loved a baby sling. Many hospitals will have one you can try out post labour and can show you how to put one on, so maybe hold fire and see how you get on with it first.

however many muslins you think you need, double it to account for being behind on laundry 😉

don’t bother with a sleeping dock until you get to know your baby. If getting them to sleep in a cot or Moses basket is hard then they probably won’t love a dock.

I second the cheap bouncy chair from Facebook marketplace, wish I had 2, one for upstairs and one for downstairs.
Controversially, I hate zip sleepsuits. The zips crease up and stick out when done up and now keep ending up in my baby's mouth. Much prefer popper ones.
We switched from a microwave steriliser to the Milton cold water tub, found it much easier.
The nuby rapidcool is my must have if bottle feeding, a lifesaver for making bottles up when out if the house or in a rush!
