Did your waters go before or during labour?

Both my children waters broke first then contractions followed! Wondering is that's how it usually is for others or did yours go in labour?

With my first, they broke about 20 hours after the first contraction twinge. By this point contractions were in full force and she was born a few hours later. They broke with a huge gush that ruined our mattress. It was such a huge amount all in one go.

Complete opposite with DD2 - waters broke and leaked very slowly at 34 weeks, didn't go into labour and was induced at 37.

With 4 of mine, waters broke just as they were crowning, with 1 waters broke 12 hours before contractions started

Both mine were during. Not like Hollywood films where all labours start with a dramatic gush in a public place 😂

DC1 waters broke before
DC2 waters were broken by midwife
DC3 waters broke after contractions had started (was still at home)

I had what felt like period pains and then an audible ‘pop’ and a gush, followed by several more gushes! This was the early hours of the morning. Then weirdly no pain for most of the day, building up into contractions in the evening. Ended up being classed as PROM as baby was born the following evening.

With DD1, mine went after having sex with DH! Just managed to leap out of bed in time to catch the lot (about a litre) in a bucket, which was fortunately by the bed as I’d been feeling queasy the night before.
I went into labour a few hours later, and delivered about 16 hours after the event.
With DD2, my obstetrician ruptured them during labour, and I delivered about half an hour later.

One before, one during done by the midwife.
