5+2 with swollen lymph nodes in neck

I'm 5+2 weeks with 2nd baby. My 1st was a lockdown pregnancy and I wasn't ever poorly during that time due to not really going anywhere, so no experience with this. Just wondering what others would do in this instance?

Woke up at the weekend with what felt like a sore throat. It died off pretty instantly that day and I didn't think much of it. The last two days I've woken up with a stuffy/runny nose and top of my mouth is burning. Sorry, TMI, but when I blow it in the morning it's yellow that comes out and then clear the rest of the day. I assumed maybe hayfever but I'm not normally a sufferer.

I have no temp, tonsils look fine, no other symptoms, feel fine in myself except both sides of my neck under my jaw are tender and there's a pea sized lump on one side.

So I'm thinking maybe it is a minor cold or viral thing that's caused the lymph nodes to swell. Ordinarily if I had something like this I'd just carry on as normal and treat at home. I've been drinking lots of water and resting as much as possible with a 2.5yo in tow.

I was just going to ride it out like normal and monitor it, but DH said about contacting GP, so now I'm thinking, should I?

Seems silly when it's likely a cold and I wouldn't contact them normally for something like that. I'm sure many pregnant ladies get colds and it's totally normally and fine, or is the general consensus that it's more important to contact a midwife or GP in this instance?

Thanks all 😊

It sounds to me as though your body is doing a good job of fighting a virus. I think with the absence of any worrying symptoms I'd leave contacting the GP until next week.

It's been shown that maternal illness tends not to affect the baby unless you have a very high temperature for a few days.

Just contact the GP if you are concerned

I'm six weeks pregnant and have coronavirus. I was a bit worried, but it's a fever that's the main issue in the first trimester. So I've just been drinking lots of liquids, monitoring my temperature (it's not been high once yet), and will take paracetamol if I get a high temperature. Will let my midwife know at booking, as it can maybe have an effect on the placenta for later on.

Hope you feel better soon
