Impact on lower stomach - 8 weeks pregnant

I hope someone can help me in my mist of panic!

I’m 8 weeks pregnant and I was leaning over my sofa from the back (cleaning), and I lost my balance and fell onto the hard back of the sofa (can feel a slim wood beam in the structure), and basically fell on my lower belly into the hard back of the sofa, so the hard beam that runs along the back of the sofa went quite deep into my lower belly, with a lot of my weight pressing down and I feel like it went quite deep in!

I’m really worried as this is my first pregnancy.

If you're concerned always give the midwives/early pregnancy assessment unit a call. But at 8 weeks, baby is tucked nicely away behind your pelvis so I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine, just keep an eye on any severe cramping and/or bleeding. If you get either of those, call the community midwives. I know in my area, the early pregnancy assessment need a referral from GP or community midwives to be able to scan before 12 weeks.

Hope all is ok!

At 8 weeks your uterus is still very low behind your pubic bone, it’ll be fine!

Thank you guys 🙏🏻 really appreciate the advice.

I have my first antenatal appointment next week where I’ll be 9 weeks, and then I have an early reassurance scan a day later.

Will these appointments confirm that everything is ok?

Sorry for the many questions!

I have daily mild-moderate period like craps since I’ve discovered I’m pregnant so they are normal for me.

but how soon would I notice any abnormal cramping or blessing after the impact?

Your first antenatal appointment will be going over family history etc, taking bloods and going through what appointments you'll have. This would be the time to ask the midwife whether you should be concerned if you wanted to bring it up. The scan however will show baby, baby's heartbeat and measurements will be taken. At this stage, it's normal to be a few days to a week out, it's your 12 week scan that is much much more accurate!

It could be any point to be fair. I made a poor decision to help a friend by carrying her daughter in the infant carrier which was heavier than I should've carried. Within 12 hours I had excruciating pain in my lower abdomen and convinced myself I was miscarrying. Turns out it was something else entirely and all was ok with baby. I'm glad I got checked out though otherwise I wouldn't have been excited for my 12 week scan at all!

Don’t worry OP, your uterus is still safe behind your public bone and the baby will be nicely cushioned by the uterus lining.

To answer your other question, the first antenatal booking appointment will just be asking you questions and maybe a blood test. There isn’t any way to confirm that everything is okay at that one.

Your scan will be reassuring though hopefully.
