Do you get induced for reduced movements?

39+2 and today I've had reduced movements. Will they induce me because of this? I can't stop itching everywhere I feel angry as well not sure what's up but hopefully hospital help!

They will monitor baby and if they’re not happy with trace etc they may induce you. Itching could be a sign of choleostasis so may be worth getting checked out too.

Have you been into the maternity day unit? They will monitor you and make a decision based on this and your medical history.

Yes you need to be checked

Moonlightsonatas · 19/06/2023 19:34

Always, always get it checked. I was in hospital for low foetal movements about 10 times towards the end of my pregnancy, it was really affecting my mental health, they would only bring my induction date forward to 40+7.

They can do yes. Often they will after 3 instances of reduced movement

modgepodge · 19/06/2023 19:38

Yea maybe. My sister and I were both induced due to reduced movements (her twice). Mine happened 2 or 3 times, the final time being after I was 40 weeks so they offered an induction. They didn’t try to make me, I was all to happy to go for it - however it was awful 😂 so now I’d probably try to hold out a bit longer.

Either way, go and get checked. They won’t force you to do anything and it’s best you have all the info so you can make the best decision possible.

SaveMeFromMyBoobs · 19/06/2023 19:41

They usually offer to induce if you're after 40 weeks or had multiple episodes of reduced movements before that (unless something unhappy with obv).

Worth getting checked, they could offer to induce. If they do you don't have to accept.

I was as I went in on the day I turned 39 weeks and it was my fifth episode of reduced movements so they said safest just to get her out. Turns out, she was just a really still baby and my anterior placenta was cushioning loads but at that stage, better safe than sorry.

Nell80 · 20/06/2023 04:29

Sometimes if you have repeat reduced movement episodes you'll be offered this. Don't forget you can make choices along the way.

Please don't put off going to get checked because you're worried you'll be induced. I'm not sure if that's what you're doing, but your post wasn't clear about that and it's very important to get reduced movements checked out.

Intense itching can be a sign of iCp/ please go and tell your midwife asap and ask for blood tests as well as monitoring.

I was due to be induced due to scans showing babies growth slowing but reduced movements brought my induction forward to 38+2 🙂

I had a really positive induction too!
