Scared I am going to loss baby, 12 weeks, spotting, cramps

I'm 12 weeks pregnant tomorrow with baby number 3 and my pregnancy was going absolutely fine until yesterday evening when I started having brown spotting.

I've never experienced spotting in pregnancy before until last night.

Worried, I went to my local EPU and they did a quick scan and baby was present and moving around, saw the heartbeat and my cervix was closed. Reason for spotting remains unknown. They didn't do a full scan with any measurements etc as I have my 12 week scan on Monday so sent me away but I felt reassured.

I continued to have light brown spotting this morning, but haven't had any at all since about 12pm thankfully.

But now since late morning I have been having period like cramps, they started on and off and mild but over the course of the day have got worse and now they are just pretty much constant, still mildish but increasingly uncomfortable. However, sometimes if I move position it goes for a while.

I am a nervous wreck, I'm so worried that this is the beginning of a miscarriage and when I go to my 12 were scan on Monday I will find out I lost my baby. I feel sick with anxiety, I couldn't even eat tonight.

I do keep trying to remain positive and remember my baby was fine on the scan last night. But I can't help worrying.

Anyone had anything similar or any advice?

Hi there, having very similar symptoms to yourself, have had 3 previous miscarriages, so this is very worrying. I have light pink spotting, cramps but I’m on progesterone which I thought was supposed to stop all that.

I’m due my 12 week scan on Thursday but had one yesterday as a reassurance and the baby was moving about and heart beat was absolutely fine.

has anyone else experienced this?

Hope you are going ok x

Hi, the spotting continued for around 2 weeks and then suddenly stopped, never did get an answer to why. I have no experience with progesterone I'm afraid. That's positive that baby was all fine yesterday though.

I'm now 37 weeks, eek!

Good luck with your scan x

Thank you for your reply, much appreciated! Were your cramps period like? Mine are at the sides, front and back, I just hope it’s in some way normal.

I’m Absolutely delighted for you. ❤️ Hope I get the same outcome x

Glad to hear your reassurance scan went well and fingers crossed your scan next week will be just as reassuring! Wishing you all the best - I know how daunting it all is xx
