hi everybody,

I have a DD age 6, got pregnant really easily. I then had a surprise pregnancy when DD was 3 months and I miscarried at 10 weeks. I then had a pregnancy during the pandemic and sadly we terminated which I was very heartbroken about, but our marriage was in a terrible spot, my health was in a terrible position (I had long covid) and the financial concerns were too huge as OH had lost his income during the lockdowns. When I went for the termination they did a scan and did say that the development of the embryo seemed behind my dates and maybe I would miscarry anyway. I was around 6 weeks with no heartbeat.

Fast forward 3 years and we are trying for a baby but keep having chemicals. I dont even get to 6 weeks, I get the pregnancy test positive around 12-14 dpo, then the lines get fainter, BBT drops and I start bleeding a few days later. This last time, I got clear Blue digital up to 2-3 weeks, then it went down to 1-2 weeks. I booked an early scan and they could see nothing. they said the lining of my womb was low also - around 8 mm i think they said.

I am 40 in august so is this why? or the termination? has anyone got any tips? I read about progesterone, is there any way I can = quickly - get a prescription? any diet? how much is a fertility doctor? I live in Surrey but can travel to london. Im just really conscious of cost and wanting something quick to try first. please help!

Thank you so much and I wojld appreciate your help! I have ff as well. This month was the one I didn't do clear blue as I thought it was clear that they were matching the cheaper opk but then it hasn't worked! I don't have AF but I got my positive opk 15 days ago, so surely I can't still be negative if I'm pregnant?

Any tips?

Probably unlikely to be pregnant if you really did ovulate when your chart says you did based off bfns 😓 I think you ovulated later in your cycle, maybe only by a few days - what does FF say? Do you have any post ovulation symptoms like creamy discharge? Sore breasts? Headaches? Flatulence? Acne? They were always a pretty good indicator for me!

Nothing. Or nothing unusual. Like the month before-when I did conceive but 10 later it went negative and my bbt dropped off and I started bleeding, my ewcm was a few days before the positive opk... using cheapies. But my period still isn't here yet, nor any symptoms (other than weirdly gassy now!) but I'm 40 so soon now. I'm wwondering if it's age? Do you take myo inositol? I read it can help. I just don't know what to do but really wanted to conceive this last month because of some maternity leave issues as well... I'm just unsure what I can do to help this situation? Pregnancy test today was negative so leaving any more tests now as obviously I am not pregnant. Just hopeful/deluded!! Any tips would be really welcome!

Age is probably a factor. My cycle definitely changed over the year - I used to ovulate on CD17 but sometimes I would ovulate on CD11 which made it really tricky to predict. Thankfully, my body did usually give me tell tell signs so I had an idea but often ovulation would come quickly after that so I didn't have much time to 'plan'. I didn't that that, I can't remember why but I didn't. I did try most other things though: aspirin, progesterone, vitamins, diet, high strength folate - none worked. The only thing that did work was being put on hydroxychloroquine as I had high NK cells. Have you had any tests done? That might be the next step. I had pretty much every test going. It's a bit scary but I think it can be reassuring that your not baron just yet! What have you tried so far?

user5566 · 20/07/2023 12:42

I haven't tried anything due to costs. Is progesterone expensive? Or are all these things prescription only? I have had chemical pregnancies so was thinking I can get pregnant but can't keep it?

You have to be prescribed progesterone, it is expensive if you get it privately but it's cheap on nhs. How far do you get to with your chemicals? Mine were always around 5-6 weeks.

Ask GP for hormone tests. After my eldest we struggled to conceive - several chemicals/early losses. Turned out my progesterone was rock bottom.

Ok, thank you- will do. Thank you so Much. Does it have to be on a certain day of the month?

I've just had full testing for recurrent miscarriage. The gynaecological and genetic counselor who looked after me were amazing. A lot of the tests you would have can apparently be booked by GP- thyroid, vitamin D, antiphospholipoid etc. Maybe you ask your GP for bloods and see what they would do?
I'm sorry for your losses 💐

carrot87 · 21/07/2023 06:54

I had to wait a year for an appointment after my referral for recurrent miscarriage for these tests.

bunnykins123 · 21/07/2023 07:13

You may struggle to get these tests on the nhs without being part of their reoccurring miscarriage clinic. I wasn't offered them until my 3rd. They did however, do a full blood count including thyroid but the fertility ones often come under specialist referral. Took me 8 months to get these too on the nhs hence why people go privately. You might be lucky though, some trusts are quicker and have a lower threshold, all depends on whether you registered your chemicals with the gp.

Thank you. The difficulty is that I'm moving for 3 months as my Oh is working abroad and I can't stay here alone any more due to stress of being alone with the little one. So
I was hoping something quicker. But obviously there is no short cut to creating a life!
