How many kicks should I feel a day?

I've read that you're supposed to feel 10 in a 2 hour period? Is this true? Because that's bizarre to me. I'm pregnant with my first baby and I don't even feel 10 a day, probably at most 6 kicks? there's days I'll feel 1 or 2. I do have an anterior placenta & I'm currently 32 weeks, is this something I should raise with the midwife? or is there no set movement I should feel, as long as I feel movement?

I would mention it, however I would say that less kicks seems normal for you baby. Have you got an anterior placenta? As that can make feeling movements more tricky!

I barely felt my first DD kick. I also had an anterior. But mention it anyway.

I'm now pregnant with my second and have an anterior and she moves so much more. Probably just a sleepy baby but again get it checked x

There is no number, just whatever is normal for you.

They don’t recommend to count kicks now, it’s more about what’s typical/normal for your baby. You might feel movement or a kick and might be able to notice a pattern throughout the day but I just go off feeling them regularly (for this baby) during the day.
I had an anterior placenta with my first and it was very similar to what you mentioned. This time it’s posterior and I can feel everything, it’s so weird!
Definitely have a chat with your midwife though as that can be helpful x

That's been debunked.

It's more about noticing a pattern of when they tend to be more active. E.g. for me it's morning and after dinner/evening

Counting kicks hasn’t been a thing for a while now. Now they just ask you to take notice of movements and check they are about the same everyday. Any movement counts not just kicks and any change in pattern should be checked. With my second I was given a bead bracelet with a little charm, every time the baby moved I moved the charm over a bead. It was really helpful

Don't count kicks at all.
Just look for any change in your baby's normal pattern of movements. If you notice a change in the normal pattern, call maternity triage.
