Nausea - how bad does it have to be to get help?

I'm just over 6w pregnant.

I've had nausea every day from early morning 4/5am through the day. Never actually been sick and don't feel close to doing so, but the constant nausea is really debilitating, especially at work. I'd almost rather vomit every morning and then feel fine.

I'm trying to eat regularly, drink ginger tea and mint tea, but I'm not sure it's going to cut it.

Is there anything the GP might be able yo offer or does it have to be severe to warrant medication?

I think if you're describing it as 'debilitating' then that's bad! A doctor should listen to you however bad it is. No harm in asking

Mine wasn't even that bad but I got meds for it because I was at uni and I needed to go to a certain number of lessons per unit otherwise I'd be failed. Explained that to GP and he prescribed meds straight away. It sounds like yours is much worse than mine was so I'd definitely ask!

It’s definitely worth asking! I’d only been sick once but nauseas for a couple of weeks when my GP prescribed something for me, only downside was they made me sleep for 12/13 hours a night!

Definitely ask. If you’re in the UK or somewhere else where the heat’s ramping up, nausea won’t be helped by the weather.

Fingers crossed you’ll be ok by the second trimester anyway.

Thanks all for your responses. I have been prescribed cyclizine but nervous about taking it as I can't work if I'm any more sleepy than I already feel!
