Hey ladies.
So I'm 37 weeks tomorrow and last week at my 36 week appointment my scan showed my baby has moved back transverse and there was issues with the cord showing the PI was above the 95 percentile.

I have to go back this Thursday when I will be 37+2 to check if baby has moved and if PI levels have improved.

I'm high risk of cord prolapse due to baby's position and have been told to be available to get to the hospital within 10 minutes if anything happens.

I have GD and they have already moved my section up to 38 weeks from 39 weeks.

I'm wondering if it likely I will be admitted on Thursday? If so will they bring the section forward again or will I have to stay in ( over a week ) until the section date is booked.

I feel baby is safer out than in at this stage and just wondering what there thoughts will be.

I have read online they suggest admission from 37 weeks for transverse baby's.

Thanks

Sorry no experience with transverse babies but it sounds like they may offer you a section sooner than 38 weeks but probably depends on your scan result and PI.
You probably won't be kept in if they can at all help it as its junior doctor strikes this week

I'm not too far from the hospital so I'm not overly concerned if they don't admit me but I don't fancy waiting until 38+6 if I'm risk of cord prolapse. FTM and everything scares me. I'll have a chat with them and see what they say. Thanks for your reply

Yes generally if you are transverse at 37 weeks they admit you, certainly the case in my trust. You can decline of course but that is the recommendation. Whilst cord prolapse is rare, it is an obstetric emergency and needs to be dealt with as soon as possible. Being 10 minutes away from the hospital is still not ideal. Not saying this to scare you, it is very rare- cord prolapses happen in 0.1-0.5% births.

They still try and perform the c section around the 38 week mark as the evidence shows that extra week can make a significant difference in baby's lung development.

In your case they may schedule the section earlier given the high PI also, decisions are made taking all individual factors into account.

Yes I had this recently, although no cord issues. I’ve had two transverse babies and both time I was admitted for monitoring. I was booked for a c section at 38 weeks anyway for different reasons (I also live 10 mins away from the hospital). He did turn head down for 2 days so I was sent home but then he flipped again so spent the last night in hospital. It was fine and reassuring really and my baby boy arrived safely at 38 weeks via ELCS. He wasn’t the 95th centile giant they were predicting, he was on the 50th.

Thanks ladies for your reply. If they want to admit me I will agree to it. Just means I will be kept in for 12 days until c section dare unless the bring it forward. Im hoping she has moved but it really doesn't feel like she has. I guess two days to wait and I will find out but bag packed and prepared for it if it happens. I really appreciate you replying to me it's been playing on my mind a lot xx
