Help - Harvester blue cheese dressing

Hi,

Please can anyone tell me if it's safe to consume the Harvester blue cheese dressing? Been craving it for a few days but keep reading mixed reviews. Does anyone know if the one specifically from Harvester is safe?

Thanks in advance x

Check is it made with hard blue cheese, if so its ok, guidance from nhs on blue cheese below, its only soft blue cheese that's not advised, hard is fine

  • pasteurised or unpasteurised soft blue cheeses, such as danish blue, gorgonzola and roquefort (unless cooked until steaming hot)

I just called and they said that it's made with a blue cheese powder? I guess that means it's not safe to eat because he said it's not pasteurised? :(

It'll be fine. The process will have sterilised it.

I wouldn’t eat in Harvester! I got food poisoning from their minging salad bar!

sexnotgenders · 11/06/2023 16:46

Hmmm, I'm 38 weeks pregnant and I'd much rather eat some high quality unpasteurised blue cheese than something made from 'cheese powder'. That kind of UPF can't be good for you

I wonder sometimes how the human race survived…

Pashazade · 11/06/2023 16:54

I was about to say it's harvester I doubt it's been anywhere near the real thing.......

Spottypineapple · 11/06/2023 16:54

It will have been processed to within an inch of it's life. It's fine

2kids2catsnolife · 11/06/2023 16:55

It's not made with actual cheese so you'll be fine 🤪

Lcb123 · 11/06/2023 16:58

I’d be more concerned by the recycled salads sitting there all day…

Harvester, Beefeater, spoons etc. All the food is pasturised to the eyeballs and can be stored for a long time. I doubt anything in there would make you sick. Cooking and storage practices would be more of a concern than the Ingredients.

So many negative comments about harvester.

I can't speak for the blue cheese dressing but my partner and I enjoy eating here and I eat from the salad bar all the time (people use tongs, don't just pick it up with their hands, our friend works there and the salad gets refreshed every couple of hours or so if it hasn't been eaten already, the tongs get cleaned and replaced also.
No, it is not the best restaurant food you will ever eat but I think it's pretty good for the price you pay. I've had food poisoning from Miller & Carter before so.

Again, I would second the comments about it being powdered and say that that should be find however you could seek advice from your midwife if you are really concerned.

I wouldn't let these comments scare you off.
