Hello
Very tentatively pregnant.
Is it okay to keep using the Pregnacare conception vitamins rather than buying the pregnant ones? I've got loads left!

I don’t know where I got this from but I thought you could take Pregnacare conception until the three month point of your pregnancy. Ask at your midwife appointment to be sure though.

I think this is correct, I vaguely remember it’s because you should stop taking folic acid after the first trimester.

I think it says on the back of the box that once you are pregnant you can use up the remaining tablets before moving onto the pregnancy Pregnacare

Thank you. I didn't expect to get pregnant on my second cycle tcc and I have at least 2 months worth left if the conception tablets.

Double check with your midwife, if you can’t take them now just put them aside for nine months and take them after the birth - you’ll need vitamins then too.

Congratulations! I have the opposite problem in that I bought six months worth thinking I wouldn’t use them all…but never got pregnant so I have used them all!

Good luck with the pregnancy <3

I carried on taking my vitamins till the end. The pregnancy pregnacare ones.

It's that you CAN stop taking folic acid after the first trimester, not that you SHOULD. Perfectly fine to take it to the end but the risk is spinal bifida is greatest without folic acid in the first trimester so that's when you're told you must/ should take it

Congratulations!!!

I had IVF and distinctly remember after egg collection (or possibly embryo transfer) being told to switch to pregnancy vitamins. It was a bit of a blanket comment they said to all the ladies (you are in an open booth and it’s not very private). This was in November 2022 so fairly recent advice, I’m 34 weeks now.

Vitamin A was mentioned which I think appears in lower quantities/or not at all in pregnancy supplements than in the conception ones . No specific brands were mentioned but it was definitely a part of the little speech you get. Sorry that’s not overly helpful! A quick call to the midwife team should clear it up for you though. It’s probably absolutely ok and my clinic was being cautious.
