Hi I had an early ultrasound they are saying I'm around 4 weeks but they can't see the yolk yet so I need to go back in a week has anyone else had this and everything be fine? I'm just scared because my HCG is over 4000 and the internet is saying it could indicate an ectopic pregnancy?

Four weeks?
Who scanned you so early?
I'm not surprised they didn't see much.
Leave it for a month.

The early pregnancy unit because I have pain in my right ovary area

Not seeing the yolk means they saw the sac, and if they saw the sac you don't have an ectopic pregnancy.

It's v early to see a yolk. Try not to worry. It's not ectopic so go chill with a red bush tea and some doughnuts and cross your fingers like women have done for eternity CakeBrew

This happened to me with my current pregnancy and I am nearly 21 weeks. I went to the EPU for a reassurance scan due to multiple losses prior. What I thought was 6+4 was actually actually 5+4 .. only the gestational sac was visible. I had to wait 2 weeks and when I went back again everything was perfect. It was a worrying time during the wait but please try not to worry. You're just too early at the moment.

That is not true, I had an ectopic pregnancy last April. Went to the EPU at 6 weeks with pain...they could see the sac but could also see the baby in my left tube.
A sac is always almost present in every pregnancy

The poster above is correct in that you can only say it is a definite intrauterine sac when a yolk sac is present - some ectopic pregnancy’s can have a “pseudo sac” or fake sac.

OP as you are only 4 weeks pregnant, I wouldn’t expect to always see yolk sac yet. It could be nearer to 5 weeks when it is seen clearly. unfortunately you just need time at this stage to wait for things to develop. Hopefully they will see one in a week and that will confirm the pregnancy is in the correct location.

I had 2 positive tests on a Wednesday with one saying 2-3 weeks on a clear blue
Thursday - had a scan, nothing seen not even a sac, just a thick womb lining and was told to contact GP
Friday - GP sent me for hcg, results were 4100
Tuesday - EPU scanned me and there was a sac, took, baby and the tiniest flicker of a HB, they dated me at 5+1 meaning I would have been 4 weeks when I got my positives and had an empty scan.
they rescanned me 2 weeks later and dated me 7+3 and then at my 12 week scan I should have been 12+1 and was dated 12+6 so baby is catching up.
at this stage in pregnancy everything changes and grows so quickly and mm make all the difference. Fingers crossed for you!
