Foods to encourage birth weight?

I know some people will say it's entirely down to genetics but I believe eating well etc will also have a good impact.

Some people say eating eggs will boost babies growth in third trimester. Or anything with protein!

Curious if there's certain foods that are great to eat to help boost babies weight!

Ah OP, I tried everything to no avail unfortunately. I even decided to pile on far more weight than was recommended by eating LOADS of good protein (chicken, fish, eggs…) and healthy fats (nuts, a whole massive avocado every day…), after being told my baby was measuring small. My diet was the best it’s ever been throughout though - I just ate more of the good stuff when I was told this. I was told my diet had nothing to do with my baby being small and it didn’t have an impact unfortunately. But of course it doesn’t hurt trying to eat lots of good protein and healthy fats.

I think it's largely due to how genetics and how well your placenta is functioning. I kept a bit of a food diary the last few weeks and I was definitely eating enough. My DC was stil on the smaller side at birth. Interested to see if this is the same for DC2 x

Forgot to add OP that people like my aunt would say things like “Just eat more” when I was told my baby was small. It upset me so much during an already stressful, worrying time as I was also told to be extra cautious about reduced movements due to my baby’s size. My obstetrician then reassured me it could be for so many reasons beyond my control - like my placenta as the PP has said above. I’m also a pretty small person myself! Although not when pregnant! 😁 So bear all this in mind. My SiL had a huge baby despite not having a good, varied diet, btw! It can be harder to eat well for many women who really suffer with hyperemesis. I feel for them. Good luck with your pregnancy!

I ate like a horse through my second pregnancy and had no sickness whatsoever. Baby was only 4 ounces bigger than my first where I only gained one stone in comparison to 2.5 stone with my second
