Moses basket AND baby nest??

Hello!

So I'm 33 weeks now and I'm just getting the final bits we need for the our bubby boy, but there's one thing I'm totally stuck on.

I know NEED is a strong word, but would you recommend both a Moses basket and a baby nest (like a doc-a-tot)?

I have the Moses basket and stand set up in the living room for daytime naps and and stuff and I do not intend to let the baby in the nest, but I've heard that baby found them so useful to just pop the baby in when they are awake and you want to do literally anything that isn't compatible with holding a baby.

Surely I can pick up the Moses basket (without the baby in) and just move that to the room I'm in?

I do want a baby nest because I think they're a really sweet idea, but am I just buying into the hype and cute designs?!

ThanksssBiscuit

Do you have a link to the baby nest? Never heard of one of those before.

Doc a tot or sleep head as they used to be known aren’t safe for unsupervised sleep and have been banned in the US and Canada. So I would avoid. Moses baskets are handy though as you can move them about. Equally you could a cot upstairs and the pram downstairs though.

Just be aware the baby nests aren't recommended for unsupervised sleeping so shouldn't be used for overnight sleep.

I never had either of them. Had a crib for upstairs and the pram for downstairs.

Baby nests aren’t safe unless you’re watching them, so not really useful if you’re looking for somewhere to put the baby down whilst you get things done.

I used a Moses basket for naps downstairs and just moved it to the room I was in. When they were awake, I either held them or played with them their baby gym/mat thing.

Both my newborns slept so much that I only got a few minutes when they were awake but not being fed anyway.

I did have a nest for DD1 she napped in it during the day when I was sat next to ner but only for about 3 months.

I won't be using it for DC2 I will be getting a Moses basket this time, mainly to stop DD being able to get at baby x

Doc a tot - honestly big no no, they aren't safe for sleeping in, so my advice would be don't let your baby get used to sleeping in one as then they may not want to sleep without one. Safe sleep is an empty cot/Moses basket
