Reduced movements

Just looking for some advice really, I'm 30+2 and my baby hasn't been active since Sunday night. Yesterday evening I noticed he hadn't kicked all day, but thought if I get into bed and lay down he'll go crazy kicking (he's most active at night when I'm in bed) he hadn't moved, so I drunk ice cold water and switched from left to right side, poked tummy etc and I think I felt light kicks but definitely not what he usually does. I went to sleep telling myself it's nothing but woke up at 4am, usually when I wake up during the night he goes crazy, but nothing : ( , I would like to add I have an anterior placenta so I know this can cause reduced movements? But I have started to notice a pattern in him kicking every night which last night he didn't. I had a similar situation at 25 weeks where he didn't kick for 3 days, so I went to get checked and everything was okay. Should I wait and see and then contact the midwife? I'm currently at work. I don't want to waste anyone's time.

Call your midwife right now. You need to be checked

DappledOliveGroves · 06/06/2023 12:48

Call your delivery suite and go and get checked. I went frequently for both my pregnancies and no-one thought I was wasting any time. Better safe than sorry.

allgoodthings84 · 06/06/2023 12:51

if you’re over 28 weeks they say to go in as many times as you need to be checked as soon as you notice the pattern or movements aren’t as normal. Ring up and go in now don’t wait any longer!

scrantonelectriccity · 06/06/2023 12:54

Call immediately. I have an anterior placenta and movements reduce often for me if baby gets in an awkward position but I still ring and go in every time.

Call now and get checked and if it happens again please don't leave it so long

38andtrying · 06/06/2023 13:00

go straight to hospital, i would

Sunshineclouds11 · 06/06/2023 13:18

You need to go now

Wiseflower · 06/06/2023 13:29

Yes, please get midwife to check as other posts say!

Just to say, I had similar with my second child, in the third trimester. Quet for a long while and some days. This was checked and all ok, I guess trying to catch up rest as she too was usually very active during the night.
I did suffer from pre-eclampsia and made sure I drank lots of water and ate nutritous foods for health reasons. So, look after yourself too (mother & baby) xx
Many moons later, my baby has now graduated from university!

I'm sure all is ok, but important to get checked immediately like I did.

Timetochangetheoil · 06/06/2023 13:31

Hope all is ok. You aren’t wasting anybody’s time.

DustyMaiden · 06/06/2023 13:34

Blunt but, get checked now. If anything is going wrong your baby can be delivered and survive.

Blue2020 · 06/06/2023 13:43

Please go and get checked at your hospital maternity assessment centre for any changes and reduced movement.

Im really thankful I did. I was a low risk first pregnancy and at 31+2 I noticed his usual evening kicks were missing that night. I could always rely on the evening kicks from 23weeks onwards. I thought it would be wasting time or overreacting by going but the next morning I called up and went in (thankfully the ctg showed he was moving) but he kept failing ctgs and my bp spiked. Without me going in that day my preeclampsia would have likely gone unnoticed until at least 34+4 with the next midwife apt if not longer since the blood tests usually took a few days to return any news. Instead they closely monitored me, saw the decline over the weeks and the rapid decline at the end for both of us with a ctg where his hr went static. I had him at 35+0, all due to the careful and great care of the hospital and midwives. Oh and me deciding to go in for reduced movements on that day at 31+3.

Thats not to scare you, I think a lot of people go in and are reassured. The midwives constantly told me they would rather see someone frequently and everything be ok than them not come in.

Unic0rnSparkle0405 · 06/06/2023 13:45

Please ring and go and get checked. I have an anterior placenta too and been in about 3/4 times for any reduced movements. The midwives reassured me even though all was fine that I'd done the right thing. You are never wasting time especially when it comes to reduced movements. Hope everything is ok. Can you let us know how things are once you've been checked x

YouAndMeAndThem · 06/06/2023 13:45

Yep you need to go in!

My friend had problems with reduced movements her whole 3rd trimester, was in and out of the maternity unit every few days for monitoring. No one ever thinks you're wasting their time. All they want is happy healthy mums and babies.

Blue2020 · 06/06/2023 13:46

Two other people I met on the antenatal ward for reduced movements both went on to full term and had their babies with no further issues thankfully.

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 06/06/2023 13:47

Please. Called triage RIGHT NOW and go in. I was always told they would rather see you 100 times and baby be fine than not go once and things not be fine.

Magicbean5 · 06/06/2023 16:55

Echoing everyone else here but also checking in to see if you're OK OP xx

TeaKitten · 06/06/2023 16:57

You 100% need to go in now and see someone, the advice would have been to go in on Sunday night. Never ever wait and see. Hopefully you’ve already called and gone in.

CityKity · 06/06/2023 17:30

I had a similar experience at around week 29/30 when baby was unusually quiet for a good few days. There was some movement but very faint and nothing like the usual big kicks at night in bed.
I think the advice to go in asap is given out of a huge abundance of caution so don’t panic, but do go and get checked just so you can relax.
As soon as I went in and was in the hospital waiting room waiting to be checked out baby starting going absolutely crazy with kicks, typical! I had a ctg and follow up scan and all was well thankfully.
I would go and get checked out, if anything they were lovely about it and it totally put my mind at ease.

oliveandwell · 06/06/2023 17:46

Mmmm I'm an abnormally laid back pregnant person and even I would go in for this. You won't be wasting their time x

Timetochangetheoil · 08/06/2023 17:14

How are you doing, OP? X

elliesmummy19 · 08/06/2023 17:30

I hope you’re ok, OP.
