Hi guys. I'm looking for anyone that might have been in a similar position ...

I am currently 27 weeks, I have lost a little of my mucus plug 3 times over the past month and then last night I was getting some pains, so I decided to check in with the midwife, who asked me to go into triage and get checked over.... Everything was fine, baby moving, heartbeat good, cervix closed, no bleeding, no rhythmic pain or tightening. They also did a scan, all measurements fine, fluid level all good.... but then they did a test for preterm labour wich came back with a positive result!!!!

Now they explained it can sometimes be wrong, but I'm currently on day 2 in hospital, they keep checking my obs wich are always ok.... the only thing we have at the moment is a dull ache a few twinges and a positive test result (I have on my last toilet trip lost a little more mucus, but no blood)

Has anyone been through a similar situation, and if so what was the outcome of it all ???

Thanks in advance

Your plug can grow back so I wouldn't worry too much if everything else is looking okays and if you're in hospital they will be constantly monitoring you.
I tested positive for this as my baby was big for gestational age compared to my previous 2 and I had polihydraminos, he was born bang on 37 weeks. I was given steroid injections just in case baby did decide they wanted to come early. I also had quite severe Braxton hicks so they weren't sure if labour was going to start and they wanted to give them the best start they could.
All 3 of my DC have been born between 37 and 37+6 so I wasn't too worried.

Hay thanks for the advice... I'm home now and still getting back pain, and lots of braxton hix... how long after you tested positive did you go into labour.

I think the only thing that the hospital trip resulted in, is me sat at home worrying. I don't feel right at all, this is my 3rd and the other's where pretty streight forward

At 26w, I went to the toilet with cramps, and lost loads of blood. Blue lighted to hospital.

Two different tests came back positive (amni-sure and parti-sure), indicating that my waters had gone. Steroid injections, early labour contractions.

Settled down after a couple of days, went home, repeated 6 more times over the next 8 weeks (partial placental abruption).

DS was finally induced at 34w, after the bleeds became too dangerous. He spent 2 weeks in NICU, but you'd never tell now.

Have your waters gone?

25% of women will go into labour within 2 days, and 75% within 2 weeks.

Yes; twice!

I had the test with my son at 28 weeks and had him 48hrs later.

I had the exact same thing happen with my daughter; test at 29 weeks and she was born at 34 weeks.

Very frightening both times.

I think I tested positive around 32ish weeks and had him at 37 weeks. I haven't made it to 38 weeks with any of my 3, I just had a feeling I wouldn't go full term, no idea why. I got Braxton hicks a lot during my 3rd pregnancy but constantly for the last 8-10 weeks. I thought I was going into labour so many times it was unreal.

Do you know what test?

Partus test has a high false positive rate. Fibronectin test is far more accurate.

Sorry I should have said mine was fibronectin. My daughters levels were quite high at 450- but she held on a few more weeks. Sons was lower and he came within 48hrs!
