I'm overly anxious and baby haven been all the way through, I'm constantly on edge about babies movements, it's me, I've always gone for check ups to check baby is ok and thankfully everytime they have been. My last 2 were on their due date this one is now 2 days late, not very late granted but I've been having cramps and 'scares' for the past 5/6 weeks so I've been expecting baby literally every day for all those weeks.

Now things are pretty calm most of the time in there but now im past the due date my anxiety is kicking in big time, im constantly worried about the movements,
I'll sit down quiet then see baby move, I think the problem is mainly me

So I've been offered a stretch and sweep and now I'm anxious over that! (I'm becoming a nightmare!) I've read the pros and cons, seeing more cons than pros, I don't know wether to go for it to give it a try and hopefully it'll
Coax baby out or just leave things be but be anxious....

Someone pls tell me what the hell to do, I think I'm in a situation where I just need to be told 🤦🏻‍♀️ I'm driving myself
Mad

Kindly op, you need to take a chill pill! (Only because you said you need to be told)

The science behind due dates is totally outdated. Think of it this way, if you were in France you wouldnt have reached your due date yet as they count 41 weeks as term. So there's no reason to stress about being past it.

Secondly, the baby needs oxytocin to arrive. Which means you need to relax, watch your favourite films, have baths, whatever makes you happy and relaxed.

Re. The sweep you're right theres not much evidence for them actually doing anything, but they are still really common and if you need to feel like you're doing something proactive then why not. However be prepared for it not to 'work' if baby isn't ready to come.

I'm sure they'll be here very soon, good luck OP

Sweep won’t do anything if baby’s not ready to come but might help speed things alone if it’s progressing. I had one - was uncomfortable but very quick, not worse than being at the dentist 😅 - didn’t work for me even at 41+ weeks but no harm. Don’t get worked up over nothing! x

I had a sweep. I didn’t find it too painful.
I found it useful because she told me that my cervix wasn’t at all open. So it confirmed what I knew, that I wasn’t close to going into labour.

So, have one if you like, but don’t have any expectations that it will do anything. Might be useful for giving you an indication of whether things have started happening or not though.

If you’ve had vaginal births the sweep should be quite easy for them to do as you’ll already be a cm or two dilated anyway.

I’m pretty anti intervention but don’t mind sweeps too much if the cervix is easy to access and already open a bit.

As PP said you need to find a way to calm down a bit.

Sweep is fine, I had 2 with my first.
Absolutely get the doctor / MW to ensure the baby is fully engaged to prevent cord prolapse
