i went for a scan yesterday (transvaginal), for reassurance. The sac was measuring 5weeks 4 days but couldn’t see a baby. They said it could possibly be too early or could be a miscarriage. Has anyone else had this please

@T1245
i went for a scan on a Thursday (i had no idea how far gone I was as I hadn’t had a period) and they couldn’t see anything at all, just that my womb lining was thicker than it should have been.
mid had 5 positive tests by this point so was very confused. I spend hours searching mumsnet threads for reassurance that it was just early.
The following day I spoke to my doctor and asked to have HCG tested.
the results came back on the Monday showing levels of 4000, this made me panic more as should definitely have seen something on the scans with HCG levels that high.
The doctor referred me to EPU who agreed to see me on the Tuesday and there on the screen was a sac, a yolk and a baby with a heartbeat! So between Thursday late night and early on the Tuesday morning everything had become visible. It could be that you ovulated or implanted a little bit later than you thought and at this stage even being 1 day out could make a huge difference to what you see on a scan.
You can always ask your doctor to run HCG levels to help.
