I went for an early scan today and measured 6 weeks 5 days. They have asked me to come back for another scan in 3 weeks. I was overjoyed to be told it is a viable pregnancy however I've noticed a black hole at the bottom of my ultrasound and I'm wondering what it could be, maybe it is why i have been asked to go back in 3 weeks, im not sure, they were really busy. I can't seem to find any similar scan pics other than vanishing twin examples however i feel they would have told me if that was the case. Any help to understand what it could be, would be appreciated. I will ask next time i am there but 3 weeks is a long time to overthink. Thank you in advance.

Hiya,

I’m no expert but it looks like a subchorionic haematoma to me. Have a Google and see what you think!

I had a small one in my second pregnancy and all was fine :)

Thank you for responding :) I haven't heard of that before but I did a little Google just now and that does look quite similar! I haven't had any bleeding. I went to EUP with severe pain which turns out i have a large ovarian cyst. I think I was thrown when they asked me to go back in 3 weeks but said everything looks good and then when I got home I notice that odd black part. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I'll be having a longer Google about it after dinner this evening that's for sure.

No problem!! They might just want to check that’s it’s been reabsorbed in a few weeks times? It’s good you’ve had no bleeding, hopefully it’ll be no problem for you too.

Hi, this looks like a subchorionic hematoma. I have one and looks pike this, found it by chance at my private scan. Itl either reabsorb or you may have a little bleed, that's just it coming away. Sometimes they like to see if it's disappeared, maybe why you have been called back. Was it a private scan? They usually upload a report for you to read and download. Again, like whatonearth3 said, no expert!! Good luck with everything xx

I think you guys may be right! If I hadn't posted here, I wouldn't even know it was a thing lol but it has given me some reassurance. Thank you. My first midwife app is June 2nd so I will ask for more information about my picture and results then. It was NHS early pregnancy unit, and funnily enough I did check my patient access record but there's nothing about my visit to EPU on there (not yet anyway!)
