Work asking for evidence

Hi all,
I'm nearly 14 weeks, and I don't want to tell work yet.
I've got to get leave for my 16 week appointment, and they're (my boss and admin) are asking for evidence of the appointment - either letter or text. Both of these state it's a maternity appointment.
What do I do?

I had this issue when pregnant and my GP gave me a note.

Employers can ask for proof of medical appointments

Either you have to get a different form of proof that does not mention pregnancy (but then the absence will be recorded as regular sick leave) or you have to confide in either boss or someone from admin, stressing that the pregnancy is not yet public knowledge and must be kept strictly confidential

Unless there's an issue with your boss, I'd just tell them.

I told mine quite early on after my 12 week appointment and it just made everything less stressful.

I didn't tell him I was having ivf and that was a huge juggling act. In retrospect I should have just said.

I told my boss at 7 weeks for this exact reason. It’s such a pain but I think if it’s policy, you can keep it private and only tell the 1 person that needs to know!

tell your boss, you are legally protected for maternity appointments and should be paid for the time off, save yourself the annoyance and get it over and done with. I am 15 weeks and was nervous telling my boss juts yesterday, all went ok, no big deal.
