No heartbeat - induction and I'm terrified!

Not the post I wanted to be writing but here goes…. Third pregnancy in 12 months. Had my scan today. I was meant to be 12+3 but baby’s heart stopped beating a couple of days ago. They’ve said that 12 weeks takes me over the threshold so no MVA this time, I’m going to be induced on Saturday. I’m petrified. Can anyone tell me what to expect? They said I have to ring a bell when baby is delivered for them to collect baby as they won’t be with me. This sounds horrific. Am I going into labour on my own? I don’t understand it.

It was my sixth scan today of this pregnancy as I’ve been under close monitoring. They saw fluid when baby was 10+6. Could that be why this has happened.

Sorry for rambling my head is all over the place and my heart is broken. I’m 42. I think it was maybe my last chance 😢😢😢

Oh I’m so sorry to hear what you are going through, I had a missed miscarriage so found out it had no heartbeat and had stopped developing at around 10 wks but as I was already having some bleeding I was given the option of waiting it out at home and was 13 wks by the time it did.it was just like having a bad period and it came away in the toilet.I actually wished later on that I’d had a proper look which may seem strange so maybe this is why they give you privacy. At 12 wks according to the nhs website the foetus is about 5cm long and the weight of 3 grapes,I was just aware of mine having a solid form compared to passing large clots so it really didn’t feel like a baby ,it was more the emotional side of the experience and then still feeling pregnant for a while after. I know for you to go through this for the third time must be heart breaking, sending hugs and crossing fingers that they will be able to help you more the next time as will you be eligible to be investigated further now?

Hi everyone. I did it. It was truly horrendous but it's now done. 10 hours of labour. Last two/three hours were horrific. Ended up having a lot of morphine. And then once it was over the pain just went.

I'm feeling pretty numb. Probably still in shock. But your messages really helped to prepare me for a very difficult day.

Just wanted to say thank you x

Thinking of you OP. Sending you strength for the coming days. Take care of yourself

Fandabedodgy · 21/05/2023 02:58

This happened to me at 17 weeks.

Within an hour or so I got Labour pains.

They gave me a high dose of morphine which removed all the physical pain and spaced me out.

A few hours later I went to the loo and the baby popped out.

It was collected and they offered to show me it. I declined. I didn't want to know the sex either.

A mw then helped me expel the after birth.

Got cleaned up and then went home.

I actually think it was worse for me DH in some ways as he just had to sit with me all day. I was at least off my face on drugs.

I'm sorry you went through this. If you feel like sharing your baby's name here I'd love to hear it xx

@theotherfossilsister we don't know the gender so we just went for 'munchkin' as that was our nickname for the baby x
