Moving During Pregnancy

Hi Everyone!

Hoping to be able to calm my very anxious first time mum nerves.

jJust found out I’m around 4-5 weeks pregnant which is great. We are currently in temporary accommodation waiting for a new build to be ready, which it should be in the last week of June or the start of July

This means I’ll be moving to a new area …. Bang on 12 weeks. I have my first midwife appointment at 8 weeks at the start of June, and I’ll mention the above, but it’s currently stressing me out so much to not know how to handle it.

Am I best to have my twelve week scan in my old area? It would only be half an hour away from where we will live. If I do, would any other checks that happen after fall through the cracks if I then move?

any advice welcome!

Congratulations 🥰 I would just mention it to your midwife and ask her for advice.

Given it’s only 30 mins away I can’t imagine this being a big issue or any checks being missed. Try not to stress out about it too much (easier said I know!) It’s great that you’ll be settled in your new house and area months before baby is born :)

Hello! Congratulations on your pregnancy! I was in a similar situation with my first daughter we were waiting on a new build to be ready but unfortunately for us we didn’t move as quickly as you are! We moved when I was 38 weeks pregnant so that was fun! You have so much time to get to know the area (make note of baby groups near by as I wish I did this sooner was just a little hectic getting the house ready) I personally would ask if your scan can be at the the hospital you plan to give birth at! Just for easiness for you to have them all at the same hospital, will give you a chance to get to know it too if you’re new to the hospital! Everything is done by your nhs number and badger notes these days so rest assured nothing will get lost at all ☺️ x
